The Day I Wanted to Take a Leave of Absence Due to Adjustment Disorder (7) - Going Outside Just a Little -
Even though I wanted to go on a trip, things didn't go well right away.
Having not gone outside for a long time,
at first, even just walking around the house was difficult.
I felt kind of scared.
I felt kind of heart palpitations.
I wasn't good at passing by people, and I couldn't even go to the park.
"What if I fall into a mental slump again?"
Thinking that, I couldn't find the courage to force myself outside, and I would return home whenever it became too much.
Even so, as I tried going outside just a little on sunny days or walking early in the morning, my mood lifted just a tiny bit.
Don't push yourself.
Rest when you're tired.
There were days when I was exhausted just from going outside, but on those days, I slept soundly.
I repeated this small accumulation of steps over and over again.
Then one day,
"Maybe I'll try going to a place where there are people."
The version of myself that could think that way had returned just a little bit.
