A lizard that lives only on southern islands

The Sakishima grass lizard is a bit rare, as there are only limited places in Japan where you can encounter one (^∇^)

You might think, "But there are grass lizards in my garden, too?"
However, the ones found on the main island of Honshu are a different species called the Japanese grass lizard.

Sakishima grass lizards live in areas ranging from the southern part of the Tokara Islands to the Amami Islands and the Okinawa Islands.
That makes them feel just a little bit special, doesn't it!

They are quick, but perhaps they don't recognize humans as enemies; even if they escape inside the house, they will climb onto your hand when you find them, which is helpful (though there is a theory that it's just because they are hungry).
