The Beginning of Greek Mythology: Tartarus (The Abyss)
One of the primordial gods born after Chaos, the primordial deity in Greek mythology.
He was considered the abyss itself, and he took the earth goddess Gaia, his sibling, as his consort, and with her, he fathered the monsters Typhon and Echidna.
The place where he resides is located even further below the underworld, as far beneath the earth as the distance between heaven and earth.
It is a stagnant space filled with mist that even the gods despise.
Because it is located at the very depths of the underworld, it was treated as a prison.
Poseidon built bronze gates, and the area is surrounded by bronze walls, so no one can escape.
Even if a human were to enter these gates, they could never reach the bottom no matter how hard they tried.
Conversely, they would be blown away by a fierce storm so intense that even the gods fear it.
Initially, Uranus and Cronus used it as a place to imprison the Hecatoncheires and the Cyclopes, having the monster Campe act as their jailer.
Later, when Zeus and his allies freed them and defeated the Titans, it became the Titans' turn to be imprisoned, and the Hecatoncheires became their jailers.
It is also said that Typhon was cast here as well.
