The bag I was supposed to buy when the savings matured
Today, I went to Daimaru before my seminar.
My purpose was to pay the membership fee for the Tomo no Kai.
That was the only plan I had.
I used to be a member of the Tomo no Kai at my local department store, too.
But recently, the bonus amount has decreased a bit, so now I use the Daimaru Tomo no Kai.
The return rate on the savings is good, so I joined thinking, "If I'm going to spend money anyway, I might as well."
Actually, I had planned to buy a bag once those savings matured.
That's why today, I really only intended to make the payment.
But while I was on the escalator, a sign for a limited-time shop caught my eye.
"Just a quick look."
I stopped by thinking that, but before I knew it, I was holding a bag in my hands.
When I picked it up, it was much lighter than it looked.
But it wasn't just a light bag; I was happy that it also looked properly sophisticated.
The soft color, which wasn't too white, also felt just right for me now.
I've always loved bags.
Especially lately, I've been wanting a bag that is light but still looks stylish even when I put my PC in it.
Sturdy leather bags are lovely, but they make my shoulders stiff if they're heavy.
But if they're too light, they can end up looking a bit too casual or too much like everyday gear when I put my work PC inside.
I had been searching for that just right bag for a long time.
One that doesn't look too much like a work bag.
But one that still lifts my spirits when I take it to a cafe or head to Tokyo on the Shinkansen.
But actually, those kinds of bags are easy to put on the back burner.
"The one I have now is fine."
"I'll wait until the savings mature."
"I'll wait until my birthday."
In that way, I make excuses for the things I want and keep putting them off little by little.
But today, I thought, "It might be gone by the next time I come here."
Perhaps I am weak to the phrase 'limited time only'.
I hesitated a little, worried a little, and then I bought it.
It's a little earlier than planned, but I decided to treat it as a birthday present to myself.
Lately, I've been thinking that choosing things I can use comfortably is perhaps more important to me than 'properly exercising self-restraint'.
I've started to look forward to the day I put my PC in this bag and head to Tokyo again.
