Studying English with Anime Part 9 (The Way of the Househusband)
I watched The Way of the Househusband on Netflix with English dubbing again!
There's a lot of slang!

Where the heck have you gone?
→ Where did you go, Tatsu-aniki?
What the heck? means something like 'What on earth?' or 'Oh my god!'
I suppose it means something like 'Where on earth have you gone this time?'
Seriously?!→ What?!
It sounded like 'Seryaserya!?', so I pronounced it into the app just like that and it understood me!
It's important to say things exactly as you hear them.

A head of cabbage for just 100 yen? Hell yeah!
→ A head of cabbage for 100 yen? Oh yeah!
I'll take the whole shipment.
→ I'll buy the whole lot!
*whole: all of it
*shipment: the amount shipped

Oh, uh, here's my points card.
→ Oh, I have a points card.

Where the hell have you been all this time? → What have you been doing until now!
I've been looking for you all over.
→ I've been looking for you!

Okay, everyone.
Today, we are going to be making some cheese croquettes.
→ Okay, everyone, today we're going to make cheese croquettes.

Enough!
→ That's not 'Oh'!
(Meaning 'Cut it out!' or 'That's enough!')
I'm sick of this shit!
→ What are you doing! (I'm fed up with this!)
*I'm sick of~: I've had enough of~

I'm just protecting my turf in my own special way.
'I'm protecting my turf in my own way.'
* turf... grass. Gang territory.
You can't protect what's sacred to you through violence.
'You can't protect what's precious through violence.'
( sacred... holy, precious)
You might not use these in daily life (lol)
but it seems like many of these words appear in movies.
There are quite a lot of scenes in Western movies where people are arguing, aren't there!
I feel like I've started to hear things more clearly lately after listening to fast-talking characters and then hearing them speak normally 😄
I'll keep doing my best!
