AI Tournament 3rd Season Round 10 [PS2 Version Culdcept 2Ex]

The AI Tournament 3rd Season kicked off on September 27th.
The final match of the 10th map was held yesterday. The number of participants increased by two new players, bringing the total to 22.

Craters 2 Results

Elimination Round

The four players who placed 4th in the previous round's qualifiers competed, with three being eliminated. The four players who placed 3rd in the previous round's qualifiers competed, with three being eliminated. Since there are 22 participants in total, we need to eliminate 6 players to keep the qualifiers at a fixed 16. (We are currently considering how to handle combinations in the future.)

Last Friday, this elimination round was live-streamed on the Shin Game CH. Much appreciated.

As a result, six players—Kohimaru, Aika, Goemon, Vanillite, Kotaro, and Gengoro—were eliminated. The remaining members held a lottery for the qualifiers. It was particularly brutal for Kohimaru in the 3rd place match, who fell from grace just three steps away from victory. This is Culdcept!

Qualifier Review

In Qualifier Group A, JOKER activated the Astral Queen's territory ability (granting camouflage to all) twice, which is rarely seen. Furthermore, by placing two Borgesses, the land for non-attribute creatures became rock-solid. He won with overwhelming defensive power.

In Group B, Kawauso expanded his chain with an Earth/Water hybrid book, but Bruce captured his Lv4 King Tortoise with a Knight. In the latter half, Aqua made several laps and earned 1000G from Mummy Goose's legacy. I thought he would win by pouring that money into leveling up, but Masaru, who had been buying up amulets, also grew and won by a narrow margin.

In Group C, Waho used an Oddeye Tempest burn book. He completely burned out Demo-Tre's Hige and the staller Shin to achieve victory. A landslide win.

In Group D, Contrail ran ahead, successfully pulling off consecutive Goblin's Lairs from the start and securing a Demo-Tre. However, he was repeatedly taken down by Mimizu-kun's invasion book. Todo won by defending with Larva's high HP.

5th Place Match

The 5th place match was contested by the four players who placed 2nd in the qualifiers.
Starting from the 3rd Season of the AI Tournament, points are awarded for 5th to 8th place, so it is important to win even a little to compete throughout the long season.

Be-yan, who secured the intersection with an initial HWX, was in great form, taking down Kappa's Coati Lv3 with Spartoi's Skeleton. He created a large wind chain with Llama. He won without any trouble after someone stepped on his Lv5 intersection base.

Finals

Perhaps due to the chemistry between the members, the finals produced an unprecedentedly great match. Waho played Burn Tempest, Masaru played Cash Transport, Todo played Fire, and JOKER played Neutral.
Up to round 30, Masaru used Barrier to protect himself and ran around buying amulets. It seemed he would escape with the win, but Waho's Scourge exploded, dealing -960G. Furthermore, Todo used Barrier to break an Anti-Magic, and Waho hit that with Corruption for -960G. Just as the overall situation leveled out and it became chaotic as to who would win, Todo leveled up a Conjurer next to the castle, which had been reduced to 16 HP, to level 5. JOKER got caught in it. It seemed the match was decided, but then Masaru used Little Grey's kidnapping ability to steal that land. It looked like Masaru would win again, but Waho's Magic Bolt exploded. Todo, who had moved the previously kidnapped Conjurer to the vacant level 5 plot, secured the win for his first victory. ...What a match.

A wonderful book that is conscious of all directions, using creatures with 50 HP or more to deal with burn strategies, and also using Sulfur Balloon and Sorcerer to counter Kelpie and Odradek. The parameters are set to level up plots that don't match the terrain, and the strategy of leveling up first and changing the terrain later also seals off Dream Terrain. It's hard to believe he only started participating from the AI Tournament 3rd Season with this level of refinement. His victory can be called inevitable.

Point Tally

There are 49 maps in the regular season. In the AI Tournament 2nd Season, I was able to make it into the top 4 with five to six wins.
Currently, Waho is in 1st place, Baivanilla in 2nd, and Shin in 3rd. How will it go in the AI Tournament 3rd Season?

Next Week's Map

It is incredibly long at 48 squares per lap. Getting hit by Chaos Panic or Apport is painful. Is Fairy Light essential? It's surprisingly easy to land on special terrain, so securing land with Spartoi might be stable. It's difficult because Demo-Tre, Tempest, or stalling are all possibilities.

Since there are many people participating and watching for the first time, this is an announcement of the general schedule for the tournament held every week.
Participants just need to submit their books by every Thursday. I don't think there's anything particularly troublesome.

Elimination Match

The Scepters who placed 3rd and 4th in this week's map Kratos qualifier will be automatically entered into an elimination match to participate in next week's qualifier.
The 3rd place finishers are Dorataka, Bruce, Hige, and Omon. The 4th place finishers are the four: Felicity, Kawauso, Shin, and Contrail.
Aren't these all veterans!

The next Kratos 3 will have 22 participants scheduled. Therefore, a death game where these 8 people compete and 6 are eliminated will be held on Friday.

This will be broadcast live on Shin Game Ch on Friday night.

Culd-Radio is a project that started with the AI Tournament 2nd Season and is broadcast on the staff member's Shin Game Ch channel. We will look back at this map and discuss strategies for the next one.

Spin-off Projects

Unique spin-off projects are being posted on various channels for Culdcept fans. All of them are participants in the AI Tournament.

Since the qualifiers were unsatisfying, this is an 'if' project exploring what would have happened if I had advanced to the finals. I was satisfied to be able to show the transformation of Mystic Egg. The four Dhampirs didn't get a chance to shine (>_<)

Culdcept continues to be loved even without a new release.
