The 'Having' Habit: Attracting Abundance with Convenience Store Coffee
Thank you for all your hard work today.
Do you ever buy coffee at a convenience store on your way to work or during a break?
That freshly brewed coffee you can get for just over 100 yen is truly delicious and so comforting, isn't it?
Well, today I'd like to share something I'd like you to try the next time you buy that '100-yen coffee'.
It is a practice called 'Having'.
What do you feel when you spend money?
Having, literally translated, means 'to possess'.
This is a mindset where, instead of lamenting, 'Oh, my money is decreasing again' when you spend, you focus on the abundance of 'I have the money to buy this'.
We tend to unconsciously focus only on what we lack.
Things like, 'I have so many expenses this month' or 'How many days until payday again?'
But why not shift that perspective just a little bit?
Practicing the feeling of 'Having' with a 100-yen coffee
For example, when you take out money at the convenience store register, or when you pay with a tap of your smartphone.
Try whispering this in your heart:
'I have the money to enjoy this delicious coffee.'
The amount of 100 yen might seem small in your daily life.
But think about it carefully.
For just 100 yen, beans grown on a farm in a distant foreign country have crossed the ocean, been carefully roasted, and are now a warm cup of coffee in your hands.
And you have the 'money' to buy it, and the 'time' to savor it.
Don't you think that is incredibly abundant?
Three concrete steps at the convenience store
Let me introduce some simple steps that I actually used to do.
1. The moment you pay at the register
Instead of thinking '100 yen is gone,' pay while feeling, 'I have the power to pay this 100 yen willingly.'
2. The moment you brew the coffee at the machine
When the aroma of the coffee drifts over, take a deep breath and think, 'I have the luxury to enjoy this pleasant scent.'
3. The moment you take a sip
Savor the joy of that moment by thinking, 'It's warm and delicious. I have the energy to do my best today.'
That is all it takes.
It only takes a few minutes. Of course, it doesn't cost any extra money.
Small 'haves' bring great abundance
By repeating this practice of feeling the small 'haves,' the water of 'abundance' gradually fills the glass in your heart.
Before you know it, you will be able to realize in every situation of your daily life, 'Don't I have so much already?'
In our busy daily lives, we often feel rushed or anxious about the future, don't we?
I used to have many days where my work responsibilities increased and I lost my peace of mind.
That is why my morning 100-yen coffee time became an important reset switch to regain the 'abundance' within myself.
On your way home today, or tomorrow morning.
When you buy coffee at a convenience store, please try this 'Having' practice.
Your usual coffee should turn into a slightly more special and exceptionally delicious cup.
May today be a wonderful day where you can notice many things you 'have'.
