Donations and Tips Teach Your Brain That "I Am Wealthy"
Circulation, Expansion, and How to Handle Large Amounts of Money Week
【Having30Days|Day23】
I noticed the donation box at the register, but I couldn't reach out.
I know it would feel good to put something in, but the thought "Can I afford to give right now?" comes first.
That momentary hesitation can be a direct reflection of your own financial anxiety.
I myself had a period where my hand stopped not because of what was in my wallet,
but because of a lack of emotional margin.
However, that hesitation
doesn't always happen because you don't have enough money.
The human brain
remembers "what I did" more strongly than "what I saw".
For example, if there is a small mirror in a room,
you look at your own face many times, don't you?
It's the same with the brain; it uses your actions as a mirror to
judge who you are right now.
When you look at social media,
the world keeps talking about "not having enough."
I need to earn more.
I need to prepare more.
I need to have more.
When you are bathed in those voices every day, your brain
easily learns to believe, "I am a person on the side of not having enough."
That is where it becomes effective to
stand on the side of "giving".
It could be a donation, a kind word to a shop clerk,
or a tip for a creator.
What is important is to
show your brain the evidencethat you are a person with the margin to give.
This is not about forcing yourself to do something.
If you give just to look big, your heart will quickly feel burdened.
Instead, try to feel like someone who can give, in a way that doesn't
compromise your sense of security.
Imagine water in a glass.
If you are always watching it, afraid that it will decrease,
you will feel anxious even if just one drop spills.
But when you pour water of your own volition,
your brain perceives that "this glass is not empty."
This sensation
quietly eases your financial anxiety.
People tend to feel that money going out
is a heavy thing.
That is precisely why, rather than just letting it decrease,
deciding the meaning of your giving yourselfhas power.
Donations and tips are perfect for practicing this.
Because the return is not clearly defined,
it is easier to retain the feeling that 'I am not a person who acts only out of scarcity.'
Whether it is 1 yen or 1,000 yen, the meaning is the same.
What remains in the brain, more than the difference in amount, is
the fact that I gave of my own free will.
People see themselves more by
which direction they movedthan by the amount itself, more than they realize.
Therefore, how you feel when you give is more important than how much you give.
It is more important than how much you gave.
Here is today's 1-minute exercise.
"Include one payment today that you make of your own free will."
There are only three steps.
1. Decide on one payment situation today
After a convenience store, cafe, or online payment.
Incorporate it into your usual routine.
2. On the spot, choose one donation or tip
A donation box, a cause you want to support, or a tip for a creator.
Decide on an amount that feels comfortable for you to give.
3. Immediately after giving, whisper to yourself in your heart
"I have enough wealth to offer."
With these words, a new label is applied to your brain.
The point is not to look impressive.
It is not about stopping your savings.
Stop collecting evidence of scarcity,
and place one piece of evidence of wealth.
In an era of constant comparison,
we are constantly shown a 'self that has nothing'.
That is precisely why you need to re-teach yourself
a different reality through your own actions.
Donations and tips are not about the amount of money.
They are a quiet message to yourself
that you are not a person who acts only out of lack.
If you were able to do that today, that is enough.
By giving of your own free will, you are properly cultivating that sense.
Tomorrow, I will write aboutunraveling the curse of the '20 million yen for retirement' right here and now.
