[Creative Fairy Tale] Byun the Wind Child
Once upon a time, there was a wind child named Byun.
Byun hated cleaning!
He got this name because he would always blow a gust of wind and make a mess of the room.
After Byun's wind blew through, everything was a total disaster.
The glass with juice in it would break, the vase would tip over, and the laundry that had been hung out with such care would be covered in mud again.
Thanks to him, the place where Byun lived was always a mess.
Even so, Byun didn't care.
That was because he found it fun when the room became a mess.
Besides, since Byun was a wind child, he didn't need a place to sit down slowly.
Byun always slept on the roof of a house where no one lived.
Since grass grew in the cracks, it made for the perfect pillow.
Next to the house where Byun the wind child lived, a human boy moved in.
The boy loved to clean.
He would always wipe the dust off the TV and use a duster from early in the morning.
After his morning milk, he would carefully polish his cup until it was sparkling.
Then, he loved to use the vacuum cleaner, making a loud whirring sound.
That day, too, the sound of the vacuum cleaner could be heard, and Byun woke up.
Byun the wind child hated the sound of the vacuum cleaner.
He loved to play until late at night, swirling up fallen leaves in the park or rolling empty cans around.
Therefore, he couldn't wake up in the morning, and his eyelids felt incredibly heavy.
At a time like that, if there was a whirring sound, wouldn't that make it impossible to sleep?
"Who is it? Who is disturbing my sleep!"
Byun peeked inside the house next door.
The boy didn't notice he was being watched by Byun.
He was absorbed in vacuuming.
After washing his face, he washed his pajamas along with his towel and hung them out to dry.
Before putting on his slippers, he polished the front and the back.
He ironed his T-shirt.
Byun thought it was strange.
"What's fun about that? It's much more fun to play!"
Then, Byun had a good idea.
"Alright, I'll make a mess inside this kid's house! He'll surely have a troubled look on his face."
Byun started to get excited.
After the boy finished hanging out the laundry, he locked the door and went out.
Since Byun was a wind child, he didn't care if the room was locked!
He would just slip right in through a crack.
"It's been a long time since I've been in such a clean place."
The house where Byun lived was always messy.
Byun, who loved to break, knock over, and flip things, had already broken almost everything.
Now that there was nothing left to break, he had become completely bored.
Even when he looked around for something else to break, there was nothing.
Byun immediately entered the living room, left the TV on, and tipped over the vase on the table.
He pulled all the clothes out of the dresser.
He took crayons out of the closet and scribbled on the wall.
Byun enjoyed watching people look troubled or panic after he made a mess of a room.
"That kid will surely be in a panic!"
Byun hid on the roof to watch what would happen.
"I'll get to see his troubled face. It's his fault for disturbing my sleep!"
Before long, the boy returned from shopping.
When he opened the door, he was surprised to hear the sound of the TV first.
"What happened? Leaving the TV on... I must have been too absorbed in ironing."
Next, when he saw the vase on the table tipped over,
"Just in time. The flowers were withered, so I was about to replace them anyway."
He said, and went out into the garden.
Far from looking troubled, the boy was in an even better mood as he gazed at the beautiful flowers blooming in the garden.
When he returned from the garden, he noticed the crayons were left out.
There was also scribbling on the wall.
The boy said,
"Wow..."
and stared at the scribbles on the wall for a while.
Byun thought,
"This time for sure, he'll have a troubled face. I scribbled all over it, after all."
However, the boy looked happy.
"My little brother must have come to play. He hates cleaning. I'll clean up for him."
After picking up the crayons, the boy looked at the scribbles carefully again and said,
"It's actually drawn quite well. It seems he's doing well. That's it! I'll attach these flowers to the wall to decorate it. I was just thinking I wanted to put some decorations on this plain white wall."
The boy happily began to decorate the wall.
Byun was frustrated because the boy didn't show a troubled face at all.
He couldn't rest until he found a way to trouble that boy.
"If it's come to this, I'll punish him more and make him learn his lesson!"
When Byun stood up in anger, the surroundings made a tremendous rustling sound.
"I'll scare him with a strong wind! I'll use my wind to blow and make a huge mess of the room."
Byun decided.
"For that, I need to take a nap and build up my strength."
Byun climbed onto the roof and fell fast asleep.
Without knowing any of that, the boy next door came to Byun's house.
"Since I've moved in, I must greet the house next door."
The boy had come to greet Byun's house.
He rang the doorbell.
Then, as if in response, snoring could be heard from the roof.
"It's from above. Well then, excuse me."
The boy used a ladder to climb onto the roof.
Since Byun was a wind child, the boy couldn't see him.
But he thought the roof had holes here and there, which was why it made a whistling sound.
Looking closely, the paint was also peeling.
"This is terrible. I'll clean it up for them."
The boy, not knowing at all that Byun was sleeping, began to paint the roof with green paint.
"There, that's it! The owner of this house will surely be happy."
The boy looked at the sparkling roof and went down, looking satisfied.
Before long, Byun woke up.
"Ah, that was a good nap."
He stretched his body out wide as usual.
Strangely, his body felt heavy.
Looking closely, his body had turned green, just like the roof.
"Aaaaaah!"
Byun screamed.
Then, he remembered what the old wind man had told him:
"If you do bad things, your color will change!"
"Eek! I won't do it again, please forgive me!"
Byun jumped up in a panic and decided he would never play pranks on the boy's house again.
The boy next door was still cleaning neatly as always.
He looked curiously at the paint on the roof of the house next door, which he thought he had painted nicely, peeling off again.
That was the place where Byun had been sleeping.
Byun, who had stopped sleeping on the roof, now tidied up his room properly and slept in his room.
The End
