[Creative Fairy Tale] The Felt Cat's Christmas

This is a small toy shop in town.

Felt stuffed cats lived here.

"It's almost Christmas, isn't it?"
The white cat is wearing a reindeer outfit.
"What everyone wants is written on this memo."
The black cat is wearing a Santa Claus outfit.

Today, they are helping Santa Claus.

The two of them were working on making Christmas presents to distribute to the children.

Whatever the felt cats imagine becomes real.

If they say "picture book," a picture book appears.
If they say "game," a game appears.

Since the memo Santa wrote for them contains what the children want, the two of them look at the memo and bring out the presents.

"A toy car for Yu-kun."
When the white cat said that, a toy car appeared.
"Oh! That looks cool."
They immediately put it in a box and tied a blue ribbon on it.

"A doll for Saki-chan."
When the black cat said that, a doll appeared.
"Wow! How cute."
They gently picked it up and put it in a pink bag.

"There are still many more presents. Let's keep wrapping them!"

The two of them wrapped them in a hurry to make sure they would be ready for Christmas Eve.


The very last thing written on Santa's memo was,
"A big and memorable Christmas."
However, all that came out was one small silver bell.

The two of them thought about what to do with the bell.

"What should we do with such a small bell?"
The white cat said,

"Should we make it a present?"
The black cat said.

"Who would want this?"
"No one would want it, I suppose."

"Then there's no point in wrapping it."
"Then shall we just put it away?"

Then, the small silver bell started to speak.
"Come on, put me in a bag and tie a ribbon on me."

The small bell thinks it will be wrapped up beautifully just like the other presents.

The white cat and the black cat
stopped trying to put the small bell away.

The two of them thought of a way to make the small silver bell in front of them into a Christmas present.

"How about we sew the little bell onto the ribbon around the neck of a teddy bear? That way, it will be a wonderful Christmas present."

The white cat took out a teddy bear that had just been put in a bag and showed it to the little bell.

The black cat agreed too.
"That's right. The size is just right too. Yeah, it's perfect! Hey, why don't you do that?"

The two of them thought that the little bell would be happy with this.

However, the bell frowned and
"I don't want that!"
it said.

"Why not? I think it suits you very well."
The white cat said while showing the teddy bear to the bell.

"Because you can become the Christmas present you've always longed to be. You'll be displayed and cherished in a room forever."
The black cat also said.

However, the bell
"I don't want that!"
and turned its face away from the teddy bear.

"Because, if I do that... I'll just be an accessory to the teddy bear!"
it said.

"An accessory...?"
"Do you not like the teddy bear?"
The white cat and the black cat asked.

Then, the small silver bell
"Since I'm going to be a Christmas present, I don't want it unless I'm the star."
it replied.

The little bell wants to be a Christmas present all by itself.

The white cat thought while looking at the teddy bear.
(Indeed, if it stays like this, a child asked 'What did you get for a Christmas present?' would answer 'A teddy bear'.)

The black cat also thought.
(Indeed, if it stays like this, the teddy bear would be the star, and no one would say the small silver bell is the star.)

"I definitely don't want to be stuck to a teddy bear!"
The bell jumped around, making a jingling sound.

"But is it possible to make the little bell the star and turn it into a present?"
The white cat thought.

"A Christmas present where the little bell is the star, huh?"
The black cat also thought.

"What's that? Calling me small, small... making a fool of me!"

The bell sulked and made a jingling sound again.
Then, it climbed on top of the many presents and fell asleep on the box.

"Ah... what should we do?"
The two of them looked at each other.

The black cat thought for a while, then said,
"Rather than making the bell a present, it would surely look beautiful if it were used as a decoration. It makes a beautiful sound, too."
The white cat clapped his hands.

"Then, I have a good idea. The place where that small silver bell can be the star is the Christmas tree in that town."
"A Christmas tree? Where is that town?"

"It's fine, it's fine. Come on, let's decorate it before the bell wakes up."

The two of them carried the bell to a distant town and decorated the top of a Christmas tree with it.


After a while, when the little bell woke up, it suddenly felt as if its body had become huge.

There was a small town right in front of it.

The bell was at the top of an ant town's Christmas tree.

The ants looked up at the Christmas tree and were overjoyed,

"There's a wonderful bell on it."
"It makes a nice sound every time the wind blows."
Here, no one calls the bell "small."
The silver bell was able to become the star.

"Could it be that the 'big and memorable Christmas' written at the very end of Santa's memo was..."
"It must have been the ants' wish."

The white cat and the black cat looked at each other and smiled.
"Thank you! Felt cats. You are wonderful Santa Clauses."
The silver bell happily made a jingling sound at the top of the Christmas tree.
