I Love Origami

Introduction

Everyone, do you love origami?
I do.
Among origami, I love creating works in the category called super-complex origami using books and crease patterns.
Thanks to origami, I am able to live happily.
Gratitude (。_。🙏) Gratitude (#*。*#) So happy
In this article, I would like to talk about the origami that I love so much.
By the way, the dragon in the header image is the "Ancient Dragon" designed by Satoshi Kamiya.
It is a famous work in the origami community.
I folded it from a single square sheet of paper without cutting.
The folding instructions are in this book👇

3 Reasons Why I Love Origami

  1. I can get absorbed in it
I have an anxiety disorder, and if I let my guard down, I get crushed by anxiety about the future.
Origami makes me forget that anxiety.
This is true for other hobbies as well.
It is the same when I am cooking, working out, or looking at note.
Truly, I am grateful for my hobbies.

  2. I can show it off
It might sound bad to say show off, but the moment I show a completed work to someone is the most satisfying.
It is hard to experience this elsewhere.
It feels so good that I worry if it might have a bad effect on my brain.
Recently, I realized that getting likes on note feels just as good.
    Thank you everyone.

  3. I can connect with people
Origami exhibitions, workshops, and classes are held here and there across the country.
If I participate in such gatherings, I can always connect with people.
Thinking that makes my heart feel a little lighter.
I am grateful to the people who organize these events.

My Origami History

My origami history is about 15 years.
It started when I was in kindergarten and my grandmother taught me traditional origami like paper cranes, yakko-san, and shuriken.
At that time, I couldn't fold anything at all without my grandmother's support.
When I became an elementary school student, my mother bought me several origami books. At first, I couldn't fold well, and even when I finished, they were misshapen. However, regardless of the level of perfection, my family and the ladies in the neighborhood praised me so much that I felt good and started challenging myself with increasingly difficult works.
Also, from the experience of showing off origami at school and it being a huge hit, origami became an identity for me.
Especially, showing off origami roses is a huge hit, so elementary school students should try it.
It is also useful when going on a homestay abroad.

Fukuyama Rose

When I became a first-year junior high student, I was finally able to fold the Ancient Dragon.
I didn't do origami in high school, focusing on club activities and studies, but I resumed it when I entered university.
At university, I was in the art club and created 3D works using origami.
It looks like this👇

"Night View"

Also, I belonged to the Kyoto University origami circle "Imajiro~" and I am still active as a ghost member.
When I was a third-year university student, I completed a work that had been a dream of mine for a long time, "Ryujin 3.5"

"Ryujin 3.5"

This is said to be the most complex work in the world, and it took about 3 months to complete. I think it took about 500 hours in total. I was burned out.
After that, I got a girlfriend and became distant from origami.
However, I broke up with her about a month ago and reunited with origami.
And that brings us to now.
I want to maintain a good relationship with origami from now on.
Please see here for details about the heartbreak👇

Instagram Origami Account

When I entered university, I created an origami account on Instagram.
I post the origami works and art pieces I have made.
If you are interested, please take a look👇

Having an account for your own work is very convenient when introducing yourself. It can also be used for job hunting.
I recommend it👍

Conclusion

I always want to thank origami for everything it has done for me, but all I can do is chant words of gratitude.
Origami, I love you. Thank you for everything.
