MELOGAPPA, who added color to my boring daily life
I am a 48-year-old housewife. For the first time in a long while, I have found a favorite artist to support, despite being busy with child-rearing and housework. It started about two years ago when my husband was listening to a radio show by Sandwichman. I was listening along while doing chores, and the song that played at the end was... a very strange song!! But they were unnecessarily (?) good at singing!! I was so curious that I searched for them immediately.
From the very beginning, Sakuma-san (the person on the right) had a great voice. Mori-san, the handsome man on the left, also had a gentle and pleasant voice. I was glued to these two, who were singing this very strange but somehow exciting song with such serious expressions.
By the time I discovered MELOGAPPA, they had already been together for five years, so there were many past videos to watch. The more I watched, the more I was drawn to their vocal expressiveness, Sakuma-san's talent for creating funny songs, and their heartwarming personalities, which led me to where I am today. I even ended up joining their fan club.
Their covers of various artists are all so good that I can't choose just one, but I highly recommend listening to their versions of "Kobukuro / Tsubomi" and "Ado / Gira Gira".
They also have fun videos with strange concepts, like singing while pedaling a bicycle to generate electricity, collaborating with a company to build a vending machine-shaped instrument, or performing a flash mob to surprise their partner for their own birthday.
Finally, I would like to share the appeal of their live performances. Their shows aren't just about singing; they go out of their way to make sure the audience has a great time. You can spend a deeply satisfying time laughing a lot and forgetting all your troubles.
