When Your Perspective Changes, Your Allies Increase

Hello, I'm Maru.

"An eraser isn't something that erases mistakes; it's a tool for giving light."

I love the perspective of the student
sketching in the Calorie Mate commercial.

"Wow, that's wonderful!"

I often watch this commercial in the morning,
and every time I do, I think about that.

In the program 'Pre-Bato!!',
there is a segment for colored pencil and watercolor painting,
and they used erasers to express light.

The parts erased with the eraser
really look like they are being hit by light.

"That's amazing!"

Back in my student days, I didn't know how to draw light,
so I was always moved whenever I saw that,
but I never thought of an eraser
as a 'tool for giving light.'

That's because, for me, an eraser
was just 'something to erase with.'

Just by changing your perspective a little bit,
you can express things with such wonderful words, can't you?

The world I used to see
was only as wide as what you can see
by looking through a plastic wrap core.

Narrow, so narrow.

I think I could see more
when I was a child, though.

My assumptions were formed by the values of my parents, teachers, and people around me,
as well as social norms,
and the world I could see kept getting narrower and narrower.

However, when you are always there, you don't realize it.

No matter how painful it is,
because you believe, 'This is where I belong!',
you don't notice
that a different world is spreading out.

Even for someone like me,
when my way of looking at things changed, the world changed.


My heart expands.

That's how it feels.

When your viewpoint changes,
the usual scenery looks different too.

Not only that,
but the way I perceive the past has also changed.

The past I hated and the past I wanted to hide
have turned into a past I want to be grateful for,
saying, 'Because of that experience, I am who I am today.'
It has changed.

Even for people I thought I disliked,
once I realized, 'They had these good qualities,'
my impression of them changed.

When your perspective changes,
you become able to think positively,
and you stop blaming yourself as much.


'It must be this way,'
'It's only natural'

—what I thought were facts
were merely my own common sense.

We
live in the world we choose to believe in.

Through what kind of eyes do you view the world?

You can change that yourself.

As you increase your perspectives,
your allies will increase too.
