The Three-Line Message That Moved Me When My Heart Was Dead
Hello, I'm Maru.
Through my experience of changing from someone who was extremely negative, I share the secrets to living comfortably and how to regain your true self.
There was a time when I lived as if I were dead.
Blaming myself for being useless, I spent every day silently doing only what I was told.
My own feelings were always put on the back burner.
My part-time job was just for survival.
I was always terrified of getting fired.
I forced myself to smile and work.
Even when something unpleasant happened, I swallowed it down.
I swallowed so much that I didn't even know what my own feelings were anymore.
Even times that should have been fun felt like they were happening to someone else.
My heart remained silent all the time.
I had become unable to even feel anything.
Perhaps unable to watch me like that,
one day, my cousin suddenly came to visit me.
He is someone who has always watched over me since I was young.
And then, he told me this.
Hey, don't be self-deprecating.
Just because you have a disability, don't look down on yourself.
You're doing fine, aren't you? What's the difference between you and me?
Nothing is different.
I could only nod in silence.
Without even realizing it myself,
I think I had convinced myself that I was inferior to others.
That was the first time since I got sick that someone had said something like that to me.
I felt like there was no one who understood me.
I acted tough and pretended to be okay, but
in reality, I wanted someone to notice.
But those words from that day resonated deep in my heart,
and I felt like the part of me that had been asleep started to wake up little by little.
As he was leaving, my cousin gave me these words.
never say never
up to you
Everything's all up to me
Apparently, these are words my older brother has always cherished.
never say never
→ Don't decide that you can't do it.
up to you
→ You are the one who chooses.
Everything's all up to me
→ You can create your own future with your own hands.
I believe he gave them to me with those thoughts in mind.
I have cherished them ever since, and
whenever things get tough, these words suddenly come to mind.
You don't have to decide your future yet.
The possibilities are not zero.
Which path you choose is up to you.
And whether or not you can make it the right choice is also up to you.
As I repeat them over and over in my heart,
I am able to breathe a little bit more.
It's like medicine for the heart.
Now and forever.
If there is someone out there going through a hard time right now...
I hope these words will gently stay by your side.
Thank you
for reading until the end.
