The Most Beautiful Art Museum in the World—Walking Through the Spaces of the Shimose Art Museum
Hello, I'm Maru.
I visited the Shimose Art Museum, which was chosen as the "most beautiful art museum in the world" last year.
I was interested in the museum itself, so I had wanted to visit this place at least once.
I had been looking forward to coming here.
Inside the museum,
there was a lovely scent of wood drifting in the air,
and I was enveloped in an indescribable sense of comfort.

The exhibition room is shown in this photo,
but where do you think it is?
Actually, those colorful, container-like structures
are the exhibition rooms.
Moreover, they have a unique structure that makes them appear to be floating on water.
It is said that they drew inspiration
from the islands floating in the Seto Inland Sea.

It looks beautiful when it's lit up, doesn't it!

From the slightly elevated area, you can also see the silhouette of Miyajima.

The layout of the exhibition rooms
changes with each exhibition held.
This is because
the exhibition rooms at the Shimose Art Museum
are designed to be moved in their entirety.
It's interesting, isn't it?
When I visited,
an exhibition of Meissen porcelain was being held.
The interior was dimly lit and magical,
yet a space with a certain warmth
spread out before me.
In the space wrapped in silence,
the only things I could hear
were the exclamations of "Wow"
that visitors couldn't help but let out.
The animal and human figurines?
were crafted with such fine detail in their expressions and gestures,
that they looked as if they might start moving at any moment.
The floral decorations were also as thin and delicate as real petals,
and it is astonishing to think that they were made by hand.
※Photography was allowed, but
since I hadn't confirmed if it was okay to post the photos,
I will convey the atmosphere through text.
As I slowly toured the exhibits
and tried to move to the next room,
a passageway that looked just like a spaceship door appeared before my eyes.

This mechanism is also interesting,
and every time a door opens,
I get excited, wondering,
“What kind of world is next?”
I felt as if the flow of time
had slowed down here,
allowing me to experience something extraordinary.
There is also a garden called the “Emile Gallé Garden,”
which collects the flowers and plants that Gallé loved.
Unfortunately, the flowers weren't in bloom this time,
but I'm sure that in spring, colorful flowers will bloom,
and you will be able to enjoy a different kind of scenery.
The Shimose Art Museum
is not just a place to go to see exhibits,
but a place to enjoy the space itself.
The works, of course,
but the entire museum is like art,
and just walking through it
made me feel special.
For those who love architecture
or those who want to immerse themselves in a slightly special space,
this is a museum I want you to visit.
When you come to Hiroshima,
please be sure to stop by.
A mysterious experience
that you can only have here is waiting for you.
Thank you
for reading until the end.
If you could give me a like, comment, or follow,
it would be a great encouragement for the future!
