Gastrostomy Surgery

I intended to update this every day, but I haven't been able to at all 😂
I've received so many likes on my post about how to use Notion for childcare, so I've been thinking I need to update this soon!! 🥹🥹

Tomorrow is my son's gastrostomy surgery.

Until now, we have been using a gastric tube, which involves passing a tube through the nose to deliver milk into the stomach, but the decision was made to switch to a gastrostomy now, while his condition is stable.

※The above are the pros and cons for my son's case.
I believe there are more benefits for others.

My son's stomach is very small, only 20cc in capacity, so
I'm not sure if he will be able to take a liquid diet.
Also, because his stomach is positioned high up, it seems surgery will be needed to pull it down. Therefore, it will be an open surgery rather than an endoscopic one.
After the surgery, he will be in the ICU, and then he will spend about a month recovering in the pediatric ward.

Because there are so many cons as mentioned, I worried about this a lot, but

・His face will look clearer
・No more gastric tube replacements (since mistakes during tube replacement could lead to aspiration pneumonia)

Above all, I decided on the gastrostomy surgery because I see it as a major benefit that my son will be able to get nutrition from things other than milk.

Heart disease, neurological disease, and metabolic disease
These three are said to be disadvantageous when undergoing general anesthesia, but
first of all, I pray that the general anesthesia goes without incident, the surgery is a success, and his post-operative recovery goes well 🙏
