Book Review: 'Ariadne's Voice'

Time for a little break, time for a book.

This is a book review.

This time, it's 'Ariadne's Voice' by Masaki Inoue.

"Can a single drone save a woman with triple disabilities?"

Save a woman who can neither see nor hear.

The story is set inside a building that has collapsed due to an earthquake.

Left behind there is a woman who is blind, deaf, and unable to speak.

In this desperate situation, the only hope becomes a single drone named 'Ariadne'.

An unseen interior, limited information.

The rescue drama, relying only on the drone's voice, had a fresh sense of excitement that I haven't felt in previous mysteries.

'Lack of satisfaction' and 'comfort'

To be honest, there were parts where I felt a little unsatisfied.

While the rescue operation using the latest technology is brilliant, the 'sense of urgency' that makes you sweat between the rescuers in a safe place and the scene itself might be somewhat understated.

It is true that there were moments when I couldn't help but return to a realistic perspective, thinking, 'Would things really go that smoothly?'

There is less of the messy human emotion or heart-wrenching stimulation, but I thought that was actually a good thing because it provided a sense of comfort.

The quiet lingering feeling that remains after finishing the book

Rather than nerve-wracking terror, you can focus on the logic of pure 'puzzle-solving'.

After finishing the core of the story, a gentle and slightly bittersweet lingering feeling remained, making me wonder about the future of the characters, thinking, 'I wonder what happened to them after this...'

For mystery fans who dislike scary stories, this book is like one 'correct answer'.
