The Benefits of Kindle Unlimited
I had a Kindle Unlimited subscription, but I canceled it once at the end of the year.
One reason was that I thought I might not actually be using it that much.
And another reason was that I wanted to start an Apple Music subscription, so I decided to cancel Kindle Unlimited in favor of using Apple Music.
The monthly fees for Apple Music and Kindle are about the same, you see.
So, how did it go after living like this for about two months?
It turns out I don't actually listen to that much music. Haha.
Amazon Music is usually enough for me.
I can also find plenty of music on YouTube, after all.
What became inconvenient was the books.
The stress of not being able to read Kindle books freely was more serious than I thought.
I couldn't get my hands on books that I knew I could read if I had the subscription.
When that happens, my exploration stops right there.
Hmm, this is actually quite tough...!
I really love gathering various information from multiple perspectives.
The way I used Kindle was to download everything I was curious about and then skim through it in my spare time.
I often used it in a way where I wouldn't read the whole book, but instead, for example, just look at the table of contents and read only the one chapter I was interested in,
and although I didn't realize it while I was doing it, it seems this was really helping me absorb knowledge.
In the end, I prefer physical books, so I definitely want to own the ones I really like in print rather than on Kindle,
but as a trigger for making a purchase, I realized that an environment where I can gather information freely and without stress on Kindle is something I really need.
So, that's that.
I decided to go back! So, I started my Kindle subscription again.
(Goodbye to Apple Music 👋🏻)
I can't believe how good it feels to be able to read without any stress!!!
It made me realize that there are so many things in this world we don't appreciate until we lose them.
I've already downloaded a ton of books I want to read, so I'm going to enjoy this three-day weekend.
