Binge-reading again, I never learn - I wrote this last week #14 -

I finally caught up to the latest volume...

That was my honest, unfiltered reaction
after finishing volume 111 of ONE PIECE.

The journey was certainly interesting and
gave me plenty to think about, but
honestly, binge-reading a work that has been
serialized weekly for a quarter of a century
is no small feat.

If I were in a position where I didn't have to work
to make a living, it would be a different story,
but working full-time, managing a household,
and putting effort into note and X on top of that
...is really not something one should do.

But since I already bought them,
it would be a waste not to read them.
I want to slap myself for getting lured in
by the 50% point-back sale on Kindle.

Still, now that I can (belatedly) keep up
with the conversation surrounding ONE PIECE,
which is incredibly popular and well-known,
I'll consider this a worthwhile investment.

And as for whether I can return to my
normal reading pace now, well,
actually, that's not quite the case,
because there's another series I bought in bulk
during a similar sale waiting for me.

“...Its name is 'Detective Conan'!” (sharp look)

CV: Minami Takayama

Note: I am an Amazon Associate.

Yes, I bought it. Conan. Again, this is
so I can keep up with recent discussions.

Detective Conan originally started when I was
in the lower grades of elementary school,
and while I watched the anime on and off,
I did read the manga up to a certain point.
(Maybe up to around volume 50?)

As for the movies, I watched them diligently
every year up to 'The Private Eyes' Requiem,'
and since then, I've only watched them if I had
the chance, like on Friday Road Show.

By the way, Conan was the reason I fell in love
with Miho Komatsu, and she remains my
favorite songstress to this day.

Thanks to that, my favorite Conan movie
is 'Captured in Her Eyes.'
(Partly because the theme song is by Miho Komatsu,
but the story's progression is also wonderfully fluid.)

However, I've heard rumors that the main story
has progressed significantly, so I decided
it was time to read it through again.

Unlike ONE PIECE, I have read part of it before,
and I don't have to learn the story or world-building
from scratch, so I expect the burden
to be somewhat lighter.

At a pace of one volume per day,
that's about three and a half months from now.

My days will likely be filled with Conan
until the middle of September.
