私が高校生の時、同志とも言える高校生が２名、自ら命を断ちました。

１０代だった私には、すごいショックなできごとでした。

その内の１名は、学校は違いますが野球部員でした。

彼の遺書は、両親ではなく溺愛してくれた祖父母宛てで書かれていたのです。

【じいちゃん、ばあちゃん、俺たえられね、ゆるしてけろ・・・・】

私は、その部分を読んだ時、膝の力が抜けてその場に崩れてしまいました。

When I was in high school, two fellow high school students, whom I considered comrades, took their own lives.

It was a tremendous shock to me as a teenager.

One of them was a member of the baseball team, though he went to a different school.

His suicide note was addressed not to his parents, but to his grandparents who doted on him.

[Grandpa, Grandma, I can't bear it anymore, please forgive me...]

When I read that part, my knees gave way and I collapsed on the spot.
