3 Things I Do When I Think 'Maybe They Don't Like Me'
I felt compelled to write this because I wanted to share it with people like my past self who were suffering so much.
Please try using these as a reference.
Just because a LINE reply is a little late, I start thinking, 'Wait, did they dislike me?'
I get anxious on my own over someone's slight change in attitude and end up feeling troubled.
In the past, I was that kind of 'nervous girl'.
'I wasn't invited' means 'I'm being avoided'.
'They didn't talk to me' means 'They already dislike me'.
But you know, one day I realized something.
That feeling of 'maybe they dislike me' is mostly just a delusion.
Even though there is no real evidence,
I might have just been 'wanting to believe that' on my own.
Since realizing that, I have adopted three habits.
1. Take a deep breath and count from 1 to 5
When I get anxious, I first steady my breathing.
It helps me stay calm and realize, 'I'm starting to panic right now'.
2. Look at my 'good points memo'
'I was able to laugh a little today'
'A friend asked me for advice the other day'
If you look for them, there is plenty of evidence that you aren't disliked.
3. Make a warm drink
Tea or cocoa is fine.
Just by moving your hands and drinking slowly, your heart will soften a little.
I drink herbal tea that I can buy at the local supermarket.
It has a soothing taste even though it's not sweet, and it's like a lucky charm to me.
Even now, there are nights when I feel anxious.
However, I've become better at being 'on my own side' than before.
When you feel anxious thinking 'maybe they dislike me',
I want you to first say to yourself, 'I'm feeling anxious right now'.
Before you try to believe in others, try believing in yourself a little.
