#1251 Live Theory 76 | BAD FOOD STUFF-Classics- 2012.4.28 Shinkiba Studio Coast (BRAHMAN / BACK DROP BOMB / LOW IQ 01 / SCAFULL KING / HUSKING BEE)
Time is jumping back and forth, but let's go back to 2012. I previously introduced the
DEVILOCK NIGHT THE FINAL concert from 2012, but let me introduce the super-hot event that took place two months later in April 2012, BAD FOOD STUFF.
The same event held in January 2024 was said to be the first time in 12 years, meaning the event from 12 years ago is the one I am introducing today.
There was an attempt to evolve this event once, which led to the MAXIMUM SOUND STYLE event, and the "B.F.S" that became the name of that event refers to this one.
What is BAD FOOD STUFF?

I have introduced it before, but it goes something like this.
Because their personalities were too strong, there were no similar bands or scenes to be found. So, wouldn't it be interesting if we gathered such people together? The event "BAD FOOD STUFF," which started in 1997 with the gathering of four bands—BACK DROP BOMB, BRAHMAN, SCAFULL KING, and SUPER STUPID—began with that motivation.
So, there was a prior announcement at this point, and since it was going to be held in five locations nationwide, I remember buying a ticket thinking, 'There's no reason not to go!'
And then, there was the happy announcement that "HUSKING BEE" would be participating!
Since it was still before the DEVILOCK FINAL, I remember being genuinely happy.
With that said, let's get started.
Live Report

The event was on a Saturday and it was the first day of Golden Week, so I went with four friends from my university days. Two of them lived in Mie, and they were such hardcore fans that they attended the B.F.S in Nagoya the day before and then came to this B.F.S in a row.

The timetable for this event is never announced, and sometimes you don't even know the setup until right before.
And when I entered the floor, the first band had a simple configuration of guitar, bass, and drums, and there was only one guitar, so I was convinced it was BRAHMAN and headed to the front.
BRAHMAN

Then the lights blacked out, the usual “Mother, please” played, and the first act was BRAHMAN. It was a hard event right from the start!
The last time I saw BRAHMAN was at Devilock.
They coolly performed Kano Toi (which was unreleased at the time), and while the audience hadn't quite switched into gear yet, the first song ended, they said "We're starting BRAHMAN," and from there it was a non-stop mega-mix! A storm of moshing and diving ensued.
Just like at the DEVILOCK FINAL two months ago, for better or worse, the setlist was the same, but personally, it was nice to hear Byway and New Sentiment for the first time in a while.
And during the MC, TOSHI-LOW unexpectedly spoiled the next band by saying “For the next band, BACK DROP BOMB...” and I was a little sad that BDB wasn't the headliner, but... they finished with their recent staple, Hekireki (Thunderclap).

BACK DROP BOMB

So, we wanted BDB to be the headliner, and when we found out they were actually second, we were furious in the smoking area. When we returned to the venue to wait for BDB, the SE for THE OCRACY played, and Senju-kun appeared in his usual perverted style of black tights and hot pants. It had been since Devilock that I last saw BDB too.
And the live started with the unexpected BACK DROP BOMB, and it was a storm of moshing.
Then they hammered out killer tunes like PROGRESS and REMIND ME, turning the floor into a crucible of enthusiasm, but the venue quieted down for CRUCIAL DANCE from the next new album lol.
Next, guest IGNITION MAN appeared, and they played THE SOUND DISTILLATION from the new album! Hot!
Personally, I was very excited, but it just wasn't that lively...
And then they finished the live by hammering out a killer tune from 12 years ago.
TAKA was talking more than usual, and it was funny when he called TOSHI-LOW “a guy like Hardcore Sada Masashi” lol.

LOW IQ & THE RHYTHM MAKERS

And as expected, the third band was LOW IQ 01.
I didn't make it to Devilock to see 01, so it had been two years since the 2010 Garni show.
This day was LOW IQ 01 & THE RHYTHM MAKERS, so he participated with Shinoppy, Shige Murata, and Ichise in tow.
I had used up a lot of my energy with BRAHMAN and BDB, so I intended to watch from the back, but!
When LITTLE GIANT started with the first song, I felt like I had no choice but to go to the front.
Personally, I wanted to hear songs from the new album “MASTER LOW GO” released around this time, and I also had a desire to hear SUPER STUPID songs, which I heard they played in Nagoya the day before... but even so, there were many killer tunes, and it was a fun live.

SCAFULL KING

And all that remained were the two highly rare acts, Scafull and Huskin.
At the time of the setting, it was revealed that Scafull was next, so I retied my shoelaces.
It's been since the 2011 solo show that I last saw Scafull.
The SKA SHOW OPENING SE played, the members set up, and the floor went wild with the eccentric choice of starting the set with THE SIMPLE ANGER!
Then, a guy next to me used my shoulder to crowd surf, but it turned out to be the friend I came with, haha.
It was the usual killer set, and it was incredibly hyped, and I thought I was going to die during the late-set
IRISH FARM and YOU AND I~.Scafull's live shows are always so much fun.
But I didn't get to hear the one song I wanted most,
CLASSROOM...

HUSKING BEE

And the headliner was our very own HUSKING BEE.
It's really intense to have HUSKING BEE as the closer, but it seems they were the headliners because of Tekkin's work schedule, haha.
The first song was #4!
With Isson's "...Music Begin!", the mosh pit went wild, and we just kept screaming.
It goes without saying, but the real thrill of a full HUSKING BEE show is hearing songs you can't hear in Isson's solo sets.
And during the third song, BY CHANCE, I noticed someone singing along next to me, and it was my friend, and during NEW HORIZON, he got so hyped he crowd-surfed and disappeared into the front row of NEW HORIZON, haha.
Anyway, we kept the energy up until the final WALK and the event ended.
Husking really is a great band.

Summary
All five bands were in great form, and it was an exhausting show!
Then we went to an izakaya to drink, got hyped, and ended up doing a BAD FOOD STUFF-only karaoke session until morning, and before we knew it, it turned into a Kuroyume and LUNA SEA marathon, haha.
However, I never imagined back then that BAD FOOD STUFF wouldn't be held for another 12 years...
