While "Encounters" and "Luck" are certainly significant
This year, I watched an FC Barcelona match for the first time in a while.
The only players I knew were Ter Stegen, Pedri, Gavi, Fati, and Lewandowski. Aside from them, the one who caught my eye along with Yamal was Raphinha. His work rate was incredible, and he left a serious impression. Even though he is a forward, he doesn't cut corners on defensive movements, and he scores goals with a high success rate in crucial moments.
It would be a huge help to have someone like this in the same workplace.
If I were to compare him to a bookstore clerk, he would be the type who diligently handles the register, inquiries, phone calls, unpacking, and supply management, while also boosting sales with innovative fairs and interesting book selections.
Despite this, I heard he felt he wasn't trusted by former manager Xavi. It's a mystery. It might not have been about ability or personality, but rather a matter of whether they clicked as people.
As a Hanshin Tigers fan, it reminded me of Tsuyoshi Imaoka (then known as Makoto), who couldn't perform under the late Katsuya Nomura. As soon as the manager changed, he became a huge success, winning the batting title in 2003 and the RBI title in 2005.
Similar things happen to non-regular bookstore staff. When a store manager or supervisor changes, they might get promoted and grow rapidly, or conversely, their authority might be reduced, leaving them feeling stifled.
I am basically an amoeba; I'm the type who adapts to anyone or anything (if it's absolutely impossible, I quit). On the other hand, veterans who have been in charge of a single genre for a long time might often be strong-willed. Their obsession is a product of their passion, so it's not necessarily a flaw.
In working, "encounters" and "luck" are big factors. However, if Raphinha or Imaoka had just rotted away thinking, "I have no luck," they wouldn't have been able to shine when the chance finally came. There's no point in worrying about things you can't control yourself. Believe that someone is watching, and do what you can thoroughly. I believe that accumulating those efforts is the best path for oneself.
I can't take my eyes off Barca next season either.
