[Self-Actualization] "Ideas aren't born at a desk" — The habit of "going to meet your thoughts" in daily life
Good evening. This is Bombay, a city hall employee.
Recently, I've been thinking a lot about the timing of when ideas I want to write about on note come to me.
But what comes to mind disappears quickly. There are many times I can't remember them later. In the midst of this, I'm thinking about how I can "avoid letting ideas slip away."
1. Timing when ideas come easily
Ideas come to me most easily when I'm cycling to work or relaxing in the bath at night.
During this rhythmic exercise or state of relaxation, I feel my mind is well-organized and thoughts naturally circulate.
It's the same with walking; I have a sense of my thoughts bouncing along with my pace.
It feels like I'm answering an interview in my head, and the content I want to share emerges and gets organized.
Conversely, when I'm being chased by something or thinking deeply about work, it's hard for ideas to come to me.
If there's no white space in my head, ideas don't really descend.
2. Ways to preserve ideas
While walking, I take voice memos on my smartphone to make sure I don't miss any ideas.
When I'm on my bike, I can't take notes, so I repeat the ideas in my head and try to write them down in a memo app when I stop.
The other day, I kept repeating the keywords "Kumazemi cicadas in October, marginalized village" in my head, and managed to leave a note when I arrived at city hall.

Stocking these moments as they emerge without letting them escape is a recent challenge of mine. I actually want to be able to save ideas even while riding my bike.
I've been looking around and found things like the "PLAUD NotePin" that might be useful, but I haven't taken the plunge to buy one yet. It's still in the consideration stage.
It seems convenient and I feel like I could use it, but I'm waiting to see a bit more.
Since it costs money, the point of "will I have a use for it even after I quit the city hall?" is holding me back.
3. Building a habit of "going to meet" your thoughts
I think these realizations are things I've only been able to feel because I've continued writing on note.
By developing an awareness of looking for "things I want to write about" in my daily life, I've become able to clearly recognize ideas that would have just faded away before.
Conversely, I suspect that many ideas have surely come and gone in baseball and work situations until now. It is not rare to feel like I thought of something, only to be unable to remember what it was.
That is precisely why I want to make sure I capture and store my flashes of inspiration without letting them slip away from now on.
By utilizing notes, voice recordings, and mental repetition, I want to enrich and reliably pick up on daily insights, just as I "go to meet ideas" during walks or while in the bath.
I believe that small flashes of inspiration in daily life take shape when they are brought out of the mind and written down, leading to the next thought or action.
By becoming conscious of my own rhythm of thought and the moments when ideas are born, I have started to notice small discoveries that I had previously overlooked.
Even during casual daily times like commuting or bathing, by consciously "going to meet your thoughts," ideas will surely be stored.
I encourage you all to identify "what actions you are doing when ideas come to you?" and try performing those actions during your work or creative activities.
I am sure that wonderful ideas will descend right before your eyes!
