World Bank Invests $372 Million in Georgia | Strengthening the Middle Corridor
◾️ Commentary on Georgia Financial and Institutional News:
An information archive organizing the "facts and structures" necessary for making decisions on asset protection and currency diversification.
We also organize information based on local realities regarding cognitive biases toward "geopolitical risk" and the "former Soviet sphere," which are often misunderstood.
Providing decision-making material that allows for a flat, practical, and fact-based view of Georgia, rather than a "one-sided image."
■ Project Overview
The World Bank Group's Board of Executive Directors has approved a project totaling $372 million USD aimed at improving Georgia's transport infrastructure and strengthening the country's role in the "Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor," a major trade route connecting Europe and Asia.
In other words, the World Bank has made a massive investment so that Georgia can strengthen its role as a cornerstone country of the Middle Corridor.
The Middle Corridor is the name of an international logistics route that connects China and Europe without passing through Russia. Following the rise in geopolitical risk due to the Ukraine crisis, infrastructure development and usage have expanded rapidly in recent years as an alternative route to the "Northern Corridor" that passes through Russia.
Project Name: TC-GATE | Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor – Georgia Accessibility and Transport Enhancement
Total Project Cost: Over $750 million
World Bank Contribution: $372 million
Co-financing Institutions: Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) and Asian Development Bank (ADB)
Direct Beneficiaries: Over 900,000 people
◾️ Three International Financial Institutions Invest Simultaneously
World Bank | WB: $372 million contribution
Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank | AIIB: Co-financing
Asian Development Bank | ADB: Co-financing
The fact that three major international financial institutions are investing simultaneously suggests it is no exaggeration to say that strengthening the Middle Corridor is an international consensus.
And the international role that Georgia, as the cornerstone country of that Middle Corridor, will play will likely become increasingly important in the future.

◾️ Why Georgia Functions as a 'Safe Haven for Assets'
Strengthening its role as a cornerstone country of the Middle Corridor means that its geopolitical defensive capabilities will increase.
There is the fact that global international financial institutions have made massive investments.
If Georgia, a cornerstone country of the Middle Corridor connecting Europe, Central Asia, the Middle East, and China, were to be invaded or attacked, the supply chain would be severed.
This means there is absolutely no benefit to dragging Georgia, which serves as a global logistics hub, into a war.
That is why international financial institutions, including the World Bank, are investing, and why the wealthy, primarily from Europe, Central Asia, and the Middle East, are diversifying their assets into Georgia.
In terms of 'logistics,' this is not just a story that 'only concerns Georgia and its neighboring countries,' but an important piece of news that is highly relevant to Japan as well.
