A Third Option: Neither Blocking nor Hiding
Previously, I created and released an extension called "YT Live Chat User Hider," which allows you to hide comments from specific users in YouTube chat from your own screen only.
I think it's an incredibly comfortable extension to use, so please give it a try.
And this time, I've created an extension that can be used in conjunction with it. It provides a "third option that is neither blocking nor hiding!"
■ The Inspiration
When I'm watching YouTube live streams or archives, there are times when I feel a comment is "a bit off-putting," even if it's not bad enough to hide immediately. Conversely, there are times when I think, "This comment is interesting" or "I can relate to this."
What do you do in those moments? Well, if it's an unpleasant comment, I think the only two choices are to block or hide the user, or just ignore it. What about good comments? Since there isn't really anything you can do with current YouTube features, you probably just ignore them and forget about them, right?
But I feel like that's a waste. Perhaps the comment that felt unpleasant just happened to look that way, and there was actually a different intention behind it. If you knew whether that person makes negative comments on a daily basis, rather than just that one time, you could judge more accurately, right?
And I think that if you know who makes positive comments on a daily basis, it becomes easier to judge the intent behind that person's comments as well.
This extension makes that possible!
This time, too, I came up with the specifications, and Claude wrote the code for me.
■ What kind of extension is it?
I released it under the name "YT Live Chat Score."
What it does is simple: when you hover your mouse over a comment in the chat box, "👍" and "👎" buttons appear. If you think it's good, press 👍; otherwise, press 👎. Just by pressing them, the user's cumulative score increases or decreases.
The score is always displayed next to the user's name. It is color-coded: green for positive, red for negative, and white for zero, so you can see your impression of that person at a glance. Furthermore, the color gets darker as the score increases, so you can tell at a glance how good or bad you have felt about that person. You can freely set the criteria (thresholds) for this color darkening yourself.
Since evaluations are managed on a per-comment basis, you can rate different comments from the same person individually. If you press the wrong one, you can cancel it by pressing it again, or you can switch to the opposite evaluation.
If you click the extension icon, you can also see a list of users you have scored. You can search by name or sort by score.
And this score is "only on your own screen." It is not visible to the other party or the streamer, and no data is sent externally. It is completely for your own use, like a note you keep quietly.
I made it work not only for live stream chats but also for archive chats and even when used in conjunction with HyperChat, which I also love to use.
■ If you want to hide them
As you continue to add scores, you might feel, "I really don't want to see this person's comments anymore." In that case, if you use it in conjunction with the "YT Live Chat User Hider" I made before, you can hide that user's comments from your own screen.
You can use the score to observe for a while, and only hide users you still feel don't fit. You can use it selectively like that.

It is free. Once installed, try hovering your mouse over a comment in the chat box. You will see "👍" and "👎" appear; just press them.
