<Introduction>
To increase productivity through digital shift, it is necessary not only to update tools but also to change the mindset of how we work to suit those tools.
In this book, the author explains the work style he practices and continues to promote at organizations like the consumer cooperative Co-op Sapporo. Focusing on "Slack," a business collaboration tool that serves as the core of this new way of working, the book introduces specific methods and case studies.
If the traditional way of working was "working offline," the new way of working is an "online working" style based on an environment that is always connected via the internet.
You will learn how to unlock the potential of the latest digital tools to work comfortably and achieve high productivity, including methods for information sharing and decision-making that used to be done by gathering in meeting rooms, and new ways of "meeting" that have evolved beyond video conferencing.
This book includes case studies of 10 companies and organizations that have introduced Slack. It introduces how organizations of various industries, sizes, and challenges have adopted Slack and changed their work styles.
All these case studies were interviewed between August and September 2020, so you can learn from work style transformation examples that truly take the COVID-19 pandemic into account, following the state of emergency declaration.

ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー
I ended up having to use an app called Slack at work, and since I didn't really understand it, I read this.
Books about apps like this are mostly explanations of what the app is and guides on how to use it while showing the screen.
However, this book is structured to first talk about digital shift and its importance, then give examples of companies that successfully introduced Slack, and finally explain the app itself.
It's in color and the pages are easy to read.
There were many examples of successful introductions.
It was interesting to see examples from various companies and universities.
I think it would have been good to have some failure examples too. Like, it's still difficult for these types of companies.
(Though I suppose that's impossible)
I am from the Showa generation, and I am not good with IT or computers.
And I have a psychological resistance to digital.
The anxiety of not being able to see where data is stored. The anxiety that if it's in the cloud or on the net, personal information might leak (though in reality, the probability of losing something written on paper seems higher). The anxiety of not being able to communicate well with people whose faces I can't see... and so on...
In my head, I know that society will become digital in the future, and I know it's better to go digital, though.
This book gave me an extra push to go digital.
I guess I have no choice... grumble...
Working from home is convenient, but it feels like I'm always tied to work, and parallel processing, which involves constantly looking at PCs and smartphones, tires my eyes, head, and heart.

Starting from Zero: "Slack" Usage and Useful Tips
You can read it quickly. It was free because it's on unlimited.
The one above has detailed explanations of the public plans.
There was also an explanation of the / command.
I didn't know Slack could do voice and video calls.
For now, I'll try using it without being afraid.
