note Question Box is anonymous!! A story about being a bit troubled by questions that assume 'You know who I am, right?' 😭

I recently set up the new 'note Question Box' feature.

I started it with excitement, thinking, 'It would be fun to chat casually with everyone,' but... actually, I'm a little worried about something right now.

I was so confused, thinking, 'What should I do about this?!' so let me share it here. I hope this will be helpful for those who are thinking of sending me a question!

😭 Something I'm struggling with right now

Once I opened the question box, I received a few messages right away! Thank you for sending them!

...However, the content is all based on the assumption that I know exactly who the sender is, and I'm just freezing in front of my screen going, 'Wait, what!?'

For example, messages like these:

• I want to be friends. (But keep it a secret from everyone)

• I'm sorry about that time

The person who sent these must have some memories with me, and they might have even gathered the courage to send them. But... these are all arriving 'anonymously (in a state where I don't know who it is)'!

'What time are they referring to...?' 'I want to be friends, but who on earth are you...!?' I feel frustrated because I can't reply even if I want to.

🔍 How does the note Question Box work?

I was curious, so I read the official note guide (specifications) and tried sending a test message to myself, and it seems the feature works like this.

1. The screen for sending questions

First, this is the screen everyone uses to send messages!

The sender can hide their name and send messages casually.

2. The management (reply) screen

And this is the screen I use to check the messages I receive from everyone.

You see, there are no icons or names visible on the messages I receive, and it's completely blank!

The people who sent them probably think (assuming their icon or name is displayed) that I know who they are, but... I can't see who it is at all (lol).

So, a strange and troublesome misunderstanding is happening where I'm receiving very personal messages from someone I have absolutely no idea who they are, but they're sending them with the vibe of 'You obviously know who I am, right?'. The quiz difficulty is way too high!

🙅‍♂️ The reason I can't 'answer' this message

As the name 'Question Box' implies, if I were to reply here saying 'Who is this?', and hit the answer button, it would be published on my Question Box page due to the way it's designed.

It definitely wouldn't be the sender's intention for me to publicly post their 'secretly becoming friends' request or personal apologies in an open space where everyone can see, and then ask 'Who are you!?'

So, although it pains me, I've decided to skip replying (leaving them unpublished) to personal messages where I can't identify who the sender is.

Since the Question Box doesn't have a feature for closed replies like 1-on-1 LINE or DMs, I hope you can understand...!

🛠 If you think, 'Oh, that might be me...'

If you are the one who sent a message like 'About that matter...' or 'Secretly becoming friends...', please don't use the Question Box, but instead use this form or my X account, which are also in my profile!

By the way, it seems you can restrict note's Question Box settings to only receive messages from 'logged-in users' or 'followers only'.

If it keeps happening that I can't reply because I don't know who it is, I'm thinking I might change the settings for the future.

It's really sad not to be able to reply to messages I've received, so when you use the Question Box, it would be helpful if you could just remember that the other person (me) has no way of knowing who you are!

Basically, I am very, very, very much looking forward to questions that everyone can share and enjoy, or casual chat messages that are okay to answer openly!
