At the moment we meet someone, we are rarely aware of how much they will influence us.

When I was young, I tended to judge people one-dimensionally and could not truly understand the real meaning of the encounters and events of that time. However, as time passed and I looked back, I realized that even those with whom I had a bad first impression were actually people who provided me with important lessons.

The moments when the foreshadowing scattered throughout life is quietly resolved over a long period of time. I have continued to write from time to time because I wanted to record these "time-lagged realizations" where the outlines of relationships that were invisible at the time finally emerge.

That is the true-story essay series called "Jinbutsu Gettan" (Character Portraits).

The fragments of encounters and memories I have written down so far have reached 22 people with the recently released 22nd episode, "The Story of the Shield and the Sword."

On a whim, I decided to compress the faces of the people who appear in these 22 stories and the scenes we spent together into a short, one-minute video.

For this video, I borrowed music from my favorite film, the timeless masterpiece "Cinema Paradiso." The lyrical and warm music of this film, which depicts memories of the past, connections with people, and nostalgia for time gone by, is the very image I put into the "Jinbutsu Gettan" series, and I felt there was no music more perfect than this.

🖋 What only resides in "editing"

Recently, because I have been releasing many cinematic videos, I might look like an "AI video craftsman." It is true that in this day and age, anyone can easily create breathtakingly beautiful scenes and nostalgic animations using the latest generative AI.

However, no matter how much technology advances, AI itself cannot create "stories" or "emotions."

For example, the incident with a certain lawyer that appeared in the latest episode.

When I was in an unprecedented predicament after a gap of nearly ten years, the coldness and warmth of the words "You must never apologize" that echoed over the phone. And the clumsy sincerity of the person who never reached for the white envelope I offered with gratitude after the commotion—.

The subtle expressions of the people on the screen and the air that flows between the silences only exist within the "heat of a true story" where a living human being was actually hurt, helped, and moved.

The reason I agonize over a one-minute cut and obsess over the timing of the music in front of countless generated materials is not to show off the latest video generation technology. I just want to find the "lines of non-daily life" hidden in everyday life and somehow convey the heat of the living stories that became the fuel for overcoming my own immaturity to those who watch. That is just one expression of my own "adult independent research" that happens to take the form of video right now.
