"I'm going to be a galaxy seller."

Fuma declared to me with a serious face. I let go of the yokan I had poured into the mold and looked at my child, who would soon be six years old.

"Oh? Aren't you going to make it with Mommy?"

"No. Daddy gets it, right? Then Mommy makes it, right? And then I sell it."

He puffed out his chest and smiled happily, as if he had just thought of a great idea. My face softened naturally.

My husband was captivated by butterfly pea flowers he encountered in Thailand, and I believe he was likely the first person to import and sell them in Japan. For the first seven years after he started selling them, they hardly sold at all.

The taste is not just mild; it's almost non-existent. However, blue food and drinks were not well-received by the Japanese public. While helping my husband, I kept coming up with recipes using the blue of the butterfly pea and kept posting them on Cookpad. Now, we have started selling not only butterfly pea tea on our dedicated website, but also blue sky jelly, two-tone deep-sea jelly, and hydrangea jelly.

And now, I am thinking of a recipe for yokan to try my hand at Japanese sweets.

Yesterday's third recipe was a midnight-colored yokan sprinkled with gold leaf. When I took it out after dinner for us all to taste, Fuma's eyes lit up and he shouted, "It's a galaxy!"

Originally, I had planned to sell it under the name "Milky Way" to coincide with the Tanabata festival, but my husband and I talked about how we could sell it year-round if we called it "Galaxy."

I gently placed the fourth recipe of yokan, which I had divided into two layers, into the refrigerator.

"Then, Fuma. Once this yokan sets, shall we go sell it to Grandma?"

"Yeah!"

Fuma immediately put on his space-patterned backpack and a wide-brimmed hat, then sat on the sofa, swinging his legs and staring intently at the refrigerator. I smiled wryly as I poured barley tea into two glasses.

By the way, butterfly pea is this kind of thing below. When you add lemon or something similar, it changes from blue to purple. It's like litmus paper.

So, this is the Milky Way yokan.
It seems that 'Milky Way' is becoming a common name for it.
