9,000 units and counting. Thoughts as we approach the 10,000 milestone.
Hello, I am Sako from the PR department at Beats Inc..
For many years, our company has been deeply involved in
creating realistic spaces,
such as fixtures and displays, but we actually provide a cloud-based digital signage service called "Kuramoni".
I say that now as part of my PR role, but
to be honest,
I don't know the real-time excitement
from when the service launched in 2019 (lol).
I was on maternity leave at the time, and when I returned,
this "Kuramoni" service was already a standard part of our company.
▼ I touch on my first encounter with Kuramoni in this article as well.
"Oh, so we do digital stuff too?"
"You can update data via the cloud? That sounds convenient."
That was about as far as my understanding went at the start.
250 client companies, 9,000 total units installed.
The service launched in 2019.
I recently checked the latest figures and couldn't help but pause.
I knew it was growing steadily, but
thinking that we are just a little bit away from the "10,000 unit" milestone
makes me feel like it's quite an achievement, even if it is my own company...!
(Is that just bias? Lol)
Thoughts from someone who knows "those days"
Before "Kuramoni" was born,
when I was involved in in-store promotions as a planner,
to play a new video on a store monitor,
we would coordinate with partner companies,
prepare thousands of USB drives or DVDs,
and ship them to each individual store...
Thinking about it now, I realize what an inconvenient and difficult method that was,
but at the time, we didn't even think of it as inconvenient;
it was just the standard way the sales team handled things.
Maybe they just wanted to do something about the "This is such a hassle!" feeling on the front lines. (That's just my guess.)
Back then, the term "digital transformation" wasn't even used as much as it is now.
What was happening behind the scenes was a series of mind-numbing,
steady manual tasks.
Furthermore, the staff on the front lines would have to
reach behind the monitors during their busy shifts
to swap out the media.
The shipping effort, the costs, and the burden on the staff.
"Even though it's a video, isn't this the same as mailing out posters?"
That was the indescribable frustration we felt.
The true "behind-the-scenes story of development" is something I plan to interview the department manager who handled it about soon (lol), but from my perspective, having watched the
"Oh, this is such a hassle!"
small but genuine stress of clients, front-line staff, and our own team,
the "Kuramoni" I saw when I returned
gave me a sense of satisfaction, as if to say,
"Ah, the hassle of those days has finally been resolved."
"Kuramoni" is just right.
Of course, there are plenty of
cloud-based signage management systems and
cutting-edge technologies in the world.
But the "9,000 units" figure for Kuramoni is
"Headquarters wants to distribute content in bulk, but I want to change the content for each area."
"But I want the operation at the store to be simple enough for anyone to use!"
It is the result of carefully picking up each of those real-world requests (or demands?) from the field
and incorporating them into the service.
Rather than being packed with cutting-edge features,
it is a collection of "just-right" features
that people in the field can use conveniently without getting lost.
Because I know that analog work,
"I want to reduce the burden on the field as much as possible"
—that perspective has spread to stores all over the country before I knew it...
It is strange how, when I think about that, this number starts to look endearing.
Just a little more to 10,000 units.
It is just a milestone, but it is a number I am really looking forward to.
10,000 units.
That means
the hassle of
"burning USBs, writing addresses, and shipping them"
that I used to watch from the sidelines back then has disappeared in 10,000 places.
When I think about that, it feels quite profound.
Once we reach 10,000 units, the official Beats websitewill also
"Over 10,000 units reached!"—I would love to post a grand celebration...
I am secretly harboring that ambition as a PR person (laughs).
Now, the exhibition at Tokyo Big Sight that started yesterday.
➡ It is the EC & Store Week Spring 2026.
Actually, "Kuramoni" is also exhibiting.
I am writing this article while having the excitement of the venue shared via Teams (laughs).
At the venue, the members of theKuramoni teamwho have supported this number
are waiting with all their might to solve your "on-site troubles."
Furthermore, in late April (April 22 (Wed) – April 24 (Fri)),
we will also be at the exhibition at Big Sight!
➡ It is the Marketing Week 2026 Spring Exhibition.

At the venue, this orange 🍊 booth is the landmark!
If anyone is going to the venue,
please take a peekto see what Kuramoni is like.
