Introduction
This article is the solution section.

[Problem]

One afternoon, a woman looked out the window and saw a man.
The man was making a peace sign, but at that moment, the woman sensed her own death.
[Solution]

Because the man was not making a peace sign, but was counting the "floor number" where the woman was.
The woman had accidentally witnessed the man committing a murder in an alleyway.
She hid immediately, but the man, who was the culprit, did not flinch; he looked up at the apartment building where the woman was and held up one finger, then two...
The shape of the two fingers the man held up, which looked like a "peace sign",
was a declaration that he had identified that she was hiding on the **"2nd floor"**.
Understanding the man's cold signal that "there is no escape, I am coming there now," the woman sensed her death from sheer terror.
■ Logic of Thought: The terror of a symbol's "meaning" collapsing
The real thrill of this problem lies in the **"redefinition of a universal symbol"**.
1. The trap of preconceived notions
By assuming the strong image of "peace sign = peace, friendship, joy," the distance to the opposite conclusion of "sensation of death" is maximized.
This gap is what creates a strong hook in lateral thinking.
2. Shifting perspective from a still image to a "video"
The key to solving this puzzle is to imagine not a static state of "making a peace sign," but the passage of time (counting) as he "held up one finger, then two."
3. Reversal of distance
The culprit, who is physically far away, invades "this private space (where she is)" with just his fingertips.
This feeling of being cornered, as if connected by an invisible thread, accentuates the unpleasant aftertaste after the solution.
■ Editor's Note: Fingertips lurking behind peace
We created "symbols" to communicate our intentions without using words.
However, when those symbols lose their original meaning and are given a completely different, terrifying role, the world changes completely.
A man you made eye contact with through a window holds up his fingers toward you.
Is that just a greeting?
Or is he measuring the "distance" to your life?
If someone points a peace sign at you on a street corner, please try to imagine it for a moment.
That those two fingers are not a number meant to block your "exit."
See you in the next mystery.
