I went to see 'After Getting Bored'
Yes. I'm bored. I'm so bored. Why am I transcribing a four-hour interview? Why am I writing in between transcriptions? All I do is write. I'm a writer. I'm bored. I'm bored. I've only gotten a little faster at typing. Even though I haven't even mastered the home row.
Today, a car splashed a ton of water on me. You're told at driving school that you have to be careful about splashing water, right?
I went to see the final performance of Lolo's (Play and Tanka) 'After Getting Bored'.

I'm so grateful that the student ticket is 0 yen every time, or rather, that was the hook that made me go see it in the first place, so I'm full of gratitude. I bought the script. I wanted it anyway, and it was also to show my support. It was the omnibus story at the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre that I first went to see, and this one.
That's right. The first time I went to see Lolo was for an omnibus story, and I'm pretty sure I went to see that one too after finding something that looked interesting from a flyer I got at the Oji Small Theater. It was on my way home from school. From the moment I entered the auditorium, the set was so pretty and cute, and I was already drawn in by that. The set for this 'After Getting Bored' also gives you a sense of excitement, with shelves packed with all sorts of things, a cityscape of shadows, and a long, narrow stage packed with items. It's a stage that's fun even before the performance starts.
Once it starts, a calm, leisurely, and comfortable time flows by. It's refreshing to see this natural period in between, not a sparkling youth or a life full of ups and downs, and there are so many conversations that are trivial but important in that moment, which is an atmosphere I like. It's amazing that they can create this. The high resolution with which they can create conversations that arise naturally is wonderful. I love these moments they cut out of life. A moment of ordinary daily life that everyone has, but it looks interesting because of the slightly quirky characters. The eccentricity of their thoughts and ideas is fun. It's not a story; daily life progresses with this much eccentricity. It's good that they can cut that out. The talk about Neapolitan pasta is a breakup conversation.
Since it's a 'Play and Tanka', a tanka poem flows by in every scene. The time spent reading the projected tanka here is so deeply moving. While reading, I look back on the story just before. Ruminating on how it was like this. And above all, my eyes are drawn to parts I didn't pay attention to while watching. I really like the scene where Ao and Shippo are chatting while drying their hair. The differences in their values and the worlds they grew up in, the things they probably think about in their hearts, but they live together and dry each other's hair. My heart stings a little at the interaction where the difference between the two, and all the jealousy, envy, and love that drifts beneath the surface, is present. And with the final poem, my eyes go to Shippo's curly bleached hair. I read the poem twice, three times, four times. The more I reread it, the more the stinging pain in my chest soaks in. This lingering emotion is good. With the play and the tanka, the focus is on different places. You can enjoy it twice in one go. Isn't that the best?
And then~! I thought it was so, so good~! The part where they keep Hokuzue-san's tears as marbles!! Isn't that already wonderful? I'm relatively forgetful, and I can't remember things from just a few months ago, so I thought it was really great. Tears should have many sad events, but when they turn into beautiful, large marbles, it feels like maybe that was okay too. It's a wonderful piece of wisdom. The marbles shining brightly in the goldfish bowl are beautiful. Even if you drop them, let's pick them all up without leaving any behind. Each one is a precious tear. I want to do that too. Should I go buy some marbles at the 100-yen shop?
The humor of life born from the atmosphere and words in every corner is fun.
It's not until something is born, but after something has ended, after it has happened, the atmosphere of looking back calmly at the story after getting bored, with the words of the tanka layered on top, the lingering emotion that soaks in feels good. I want to watch this story in this theater, in this seat, forever. It was such a comfortable theatrical experience.
I'll write down these impressions before I get bored. Maybe I should learn the home row on the keyboard.
