What is your pattern for achieving your desires?
I am participating in Ken Honda's Happy Writing Marathon. This week's topic is "What is your pattern for achieving your desires?" Once again, this is a topic that requires me to dig deep within myself. Hmm, well, what could it be?
When I hear the word 'pattern,' I immediately think of the pattern practice I do during drum practice (my brain is in drum mode every day lol).
A pattern is: "Generally refers to a regular or stereotypical tendency or style. It is a fixed form or framework seen in the repeated shapes, movements, arrangements, or sequences of things." (Source: Gemini 3)
For drums, there are 8-beats, 16-beats, shuffle beats, swung rhythms, and so on.... There are many patterns, and before a change in the song's mood, there is a pattern called a fill-in, which is a convention that lets you know the song is about to change.
Is there such a thing as a pattern for achieving desires?
I had never thought about it.
I wonder if it's a pattern where, if you fit it into that mold, you can always achieve your desires.
Looking back, many of the desires I have achieved were things I expressed in some form, whether by speaking them out loud or writing them down.
Another one is the pattern of tackling things with strong feelings. The attitude of starting from the determination to "do it" might also be my mold.
In other words, I think it is the feeling that being that way is natural. This sounds simple when put into words, but I feel it is actually quite deep. Instead of setting the "self I want to be" far away, I exist as the "self who is already that way" from this very moment. I flip the switch on that feeling.
When I do that, there is no strain like "I have to try hard" or "I have to make an effort." It just feels like actions naturally begin as that version of myself.
For example, when I started playing the drums, I feel like I thought "I am a drummer" from the beginning, rather than "I want to be able to play someday." Even though I couldn't play at all yet. But because I had that feeling, practicing was natural, and improving was also natural.
Achieving desires might not be about "getting something in the future," but rather "changing the way you are right now."
Yes, that's right, now that I think about it. I feel like I'm realizing it by putting it into words again.
Thank you for giving me another realization!
Thank you for staying with me until the end.
What kind of desire-achievement pattern do you have?

Finally, I was chosen as one of the five additional works delivered in Ken-san's recommended works #33. This is the second time I have been selected in the "This person is also wonderful" category, and I am deeply moved. I want to continue enjoying the marathon! 😁
