#Shirokuma Pon: Pocket Gloves (Senryu to SS)

"Roasted sweet potatoes from the shop are expensive and small."
Saying that, you bought a roasted sweet potato from Donki and handed half to me.
Back then, we were just friends. Childhood friends who became close simply because we lived in the same neighborhood. It was just a coincidence that we went to the same high school.

However, after your mother passed away and I pulled you into my arms while you were crying after school, we became lovers.

It wasn't a coincidence that we went to the same university. We studied together, didn't we?

The first Christmas after we became lovers, you knitted me a scarf as a gift. My scarf was gray, and yours was off-white.
The next year, it was a sweater. The year after that, gloves, because "it's harder to knit small things!" And the year after that, a knitted hat. Mine had a simple design, but yours had cat ears. When you asked, "Isn't it cute?" and I nodded, it wasn't the hat I was agreeing with—it was that you were cute.

We take the long way home because I want to be with you for as long as possible.
We take the shortcut through the park because we stop to look at snowmen together.

We walked through four winters together, and I thought we would always be together.
Yes, until you died.

The same illness as your mother.
"It's hard to leave you behind."
Tears spilled from your eyes.
"It's okay to forget me, please be happy."

Could I ever forget? Inside my pocket is an off-white glove. I squeeze that glove with my gray-gloved hand and think that I will never be able to forget.

Inside my pocket will always be your place.

I generated an image yesterday, but I thought it could also be a short-short story.
