Is it possible to play basketball in a mascot costume?

A few months after I created the mascot costume, there was an announcement about an in-house event.

This is a chance to show off the costume to the company and bring some laughter.

Since it's summer, I thought it might be a barbecue, so I opened the announcement.

I have never seen a mascot character playing sports on TV.

However, it is worth a try.

In a past TV program, Hitoshi Kusano took on the challenge of creating a Funassyi costume while looking at the blueprints.
According to that program, the original Funassyi seems to use sponge all over its body.
The plump form might be due to the difference in materials.

The practice time ended, and we decided to have a practice match.

The pass came to the fake Funassyi!

Along with a dull sound, I felt pain in my stomach.

I had realized it to some extent during practice, but

the arms are too short.

During the game, the speed of the passes increases, so even catching them is an S-rank difficulty.
However, if I attach something like silicone to the hand parts to increase friction, I might be able to catch the ball with sheer willpower.

However, there were other problems.

I couldn't see far away.

This is a scene from when I played cards with friends before.
I think my vision was less than 0.1.

When playing basketball, combined with the gym lighting, I could barely see anything in the distance.
When you're inside a mascot costume, you have no peripheral vision, and you can only understand the situation from what you see through the eyes of the costume.

In the end, without knowing what was happening,

I won.

Apparently, the opposing team was laughing so hard that they kept missing their shots, lol.

However, regarding the question of whether you can play basketball in a mascot costume, I found that it is impossible.
I realized that it is amazing that Gachapin does sports like skiing.

From this day on, the recognition of the fake Funassyi within the company skyrocketed.

Then, one day, an incident occurred that caused a stir in the world.

Fake Funassyi causes a police incident at an event venue in Hyogo ↓

At the time, it was the peak of Funassyi's popularity.
This report was broadcast on every TV station.

And I received a lot of messages.

I received nearly 10 of the same questions, lol.

Of course, it wasn't me.
If you compare the photos, I think you can tell that the material of the costume and the shape of the eyes are different.

I avoided going to events where people I didn't know gathered to avoid trouble, but I never thought it would turn into a police matter, so I remember being surprised at the time.

Also, commercial use can be punishable, so you need to be careful when playing with fake mascot costumes.
