I tried using X's "Boost" feature. How much did my impressions increase?
X (formerly Twitter) has a "Boost" feature that allows you to pay an additional fee to promote specific posts.
In other words, you are buying impressions with money.
I had never used it before, but after seeing the "Boost" button every time, I became curious about how effective it actually is, so I decided to try out the boost feature.
[Premise] My followers are about 800, and impressions are about 10,000/day
My account, which I used to test the boost feature, has 827 followers (as of July 9, 2026) and averages about 10,000 impressions per day.
It is certainly not a large-scale account.
Then again, I don't think large-scale accounts would need to use the boost feature anyway.
I will be testing the boost feature with this account this time.
You can boost immediately just by pressing "Boost"
Using the boost feature is super easy.
Just press "Boost" on the post you want to promote.

After that, set the budget and duration, choose a payment method, and press "Boost post" to finish.

Since this is an experiment, I set the budget and duration to the minimum and only spent 1,000 yen.
Also, it seems the credit card used for X Premium payments can be used as is for the payment method.
I was surprised at how easy it was.
After boosting for one day, what happened to the impressions?
After boosting for one day, what happened to the impressions?
First, here is the analytics screen immediately after posting, before boosting.
Note that since I couldn't take a screenshot of the smartphone version of the analytics, I took a screenshot of the PC (browser) version.

And here is the analytics screen after boosting for 24 hours.

With a 24-hour boost, impressions went up from 58 to 76,496.
Since it seems 99% of that is from the boost, it means I would have had almost no impressions without it.
It increased much more than I expected.
I didn't get many likes, but I had 314 engagements, and I also gained about 4 followers.
By the way, impression zombies still come to boosted posts, don't they?

Actually, every single reply to the boosted post was from an impression zombie.
Is it a viable option for small to medium-sized accounts to gather impressions?
Whether you think the results are expensive or cheap is up to the individual, but it seems to have a certain effect.
Personally, I've always disliked things like buying followers with money, so I don't think I'll use boost much in the future.
It seems like it would get quite costly if I boosted every time.
Also, there seem to be many people on X who dislike ads and promotions, so I feel like I'm more likely to get blocked or muted because of a boosted post.
That said, I did think it might be good for small accounts to quickly gather impressions.
It was nearly 80,000 impressions for 1,000 yen a day, so if you can afford a bit more budget, you might be able to gain impressions and followers all at once.
