[Book] The Murder at Gurenkan
"The Murder at Gurenkan" (Tatsumi Atsukawa) | Kodansha
In the middle, I found myself getting all restless, thinking, 'Wait, what, what's going to happen?', and I ended up devouring it in my spare time.
It's like a youth light novel condensed into a mystery, a bit heavy and rich like extra butter. It's been a while since I've read something like this from a young author!!!!? It has the scent of New Orthodox mystery.
Also, I thought that later at school, Katsuragi would probably get scolded like crazy by his butler and others... It felt real. I could see Katsuragi getting flustered while being cried over by his nanny (tentative).
The atmosphere suggests there might be stories or books about me and Katsuragi before this one (there probably aren't), and for example, my preference is that Katsuragi has a better build... However, since it's written in the first person, I was reading and thinking, 'Which build is this description referring to right now?' 'Is it written in a previous book??', but there probably isn't a previous book. I thought, 'Are you serious?', but it's a broad genre, so anything goes, right... (In the end, I think I understood the builds).
Also... the part where Katsuragi calls me by my name was a bit emotional... I like it...
The psychological depiction of Great Detective vs. Great Detective is the crux of the story, but~~~~~ I like yuri, so~~~~~~~~~~~ I enjoyed reading it. Yuri between intelligent high school girls, written by a male author with no shortage of butter, like a crispy pie~~~~!!!
Also, in the end, I like Koide-san too. A boyish, beautiful person who had an ominous vibe from the start, and after reading to the end, her sharp retorts (??) were great, she had conviction in her work, and above all, her profession is just too delicious. If it were adapted into a film, I'd want a Takarazuka alumna to play her~~ Like Nanami-san or Miya-san (I love them). I want... a bromide of her...
Partway through, partly due to my own immature reading, there was a passage where I went wild thinking, 'Wait, the gender!!? Gender!! A narrative trick at this stage!!??', but it ended up being a groundless fear, or rather, a false alarm. Lol
This is completely unrelated, but on the page introducing upcoming Kodansha Taiga titles at the end of the book, "Enmado Sara no Suiri Kitan" (written by Kanata Kimoto), which features illustrations by Kei Mochizuki, was listed, and I went, 'Kei Mochizuki~~~~!!!'. 'Kyogoku-chan~~~!!!'
