Suburi Calendar June
This month, we are holding the 'National Suburi Calendar Cup' using the June Suburi Calendar! (≧∇≦) This is an event exclusively for elementary school students. ♪ Check out the tournament guidelines below for details!
As stated in the guidelines, this tournament has two categories. In the first, 'Individual Suburi Competition,' participating swordsmen from all over the country will compete on the number of suburi swings in June, and I will present the top two in each grade level (lower, middle, and upper) with a 'handmade personalized kendo mascot.' (*^▽^*) In other words, a total of 6 people will receive prizes!
The second category is the 'Kendo Illustration Contest.' Literally, you draw a kendo-themed illustration, and 2 people from among the participants will receive a kendo mascot. ♪
I created two categories because I thought, 'Even if the categories are divided by grade level, it's hard to aim for a prize when it comes to a numbers game, and I'm not confident... But I want a mascot! I want a prize!'... I prepared the illustration category to give such swordsmen at least a little bit of a chance. ♪
That said, the illustration category isn't just an extra! In last year's Suburi Calendar, I featured illustrations drawn by swordsmen from all over the country, so I thought I'd try reviving that in a different form. ♪ There are some real artists who come to draw seriously, too! ( ̄▽ ̄)
Actually, I want to give presents to everyone who participates to convey my feelings of 'You did your best' and 'Thank you for your hard work,' but since it takes about 2 days (at the shortest, 1 to 1.5 days) to make one of those mascots, it's hard to do that... So lately, I've been picking up 1 to 3 swordsmen I'm interested in on social media every month, sending them Suburi Calendar challenges, and sending them a mascot once they clear them. (^◇^;)
By the way, swordsmen who have received a mascot in the past are of course welcome to participate in this tournament! However, I'm sure some swordsmen might think, 'I already have one...' So I thought about it! This time, swordsmen who have received a mascot in the past can give their 'right to have one kendo mascot made' to one person they want to give it to, such as a sibling, father, mother, or kendo friend! Of course, having a second one made is also good!
There are no tournaments!
It's boring!
How am I supposed to keep my motivation up!
…To all those elementary school swordsmen, please join us. m(_ _)m
It's okay to play around while feeling excited. ♪
※When competing on the number of suburi swings, I think you will end up doing a considerable number of swings, so please be careful about your physical condition and injuries.
※Since you will be doing a lot of swings, it might be good to keep in mind that it is 'suburi to build muscle.' (*^▽^*)
※'Suburi isn't just about swinging!' I understand the feelings of those who want to say that. But for this time, please keep your lips zipped. Elementary school students really have no tournaments or practice matches. It is completely different from junior high and high schools that can hold general athletic meets even without spectators. This project is, after all, an event for elementary school students to have fun and aim for prizes with a bit of seriousness, so I would appreciate it if you could watch over them warmly.
