Songs Perfect for the Evening #MieharuKaraokeLateSummerVersion
I received this baton from Sazanami-san, who shares my love for Spitz.
Sazanami-san's song choices were not only Spitz, but also other tracks that suit my taste. In particular, my first encounter with BUMP OF CHICKEN's "Sharin no Uta" was when someone sang it at a karaoke party at work, and I thought, "What a wonderful song." I also sang Yuming's "Yasashisa ni Tsutsumareta nara" in a choir when I was a student.
After reading Sazanami-san's article, I was reminded once again that music is deeply connected to memories. Thank you!
Here are the articles from the organizers of this project ▼
Now, although I'm glad I received the baton, I have so many favorite songs that I struggled to decide on a theme.
Since this was the "Late Summer" version, I decided to choose songs that are perfect for the evening during this time of year.
It's the season when summer transitions into autumn.
In the evening, the air gets a little cooler, the night arrives earlier, and the expressions of sadness, loneliness, and poignancy become more intense than before.
Please listen to them while imagining that time of day.
I will introduce five songs this time.
First, from that band I love so much!
1. "Koi no Uta" / Spitz
I chose this song because the bittersweet feeling of love is perfect for the evening, but I also have other memories associated with it.
The venue where they are singing "Koi no Uta" in this video is a place in Kagawa Prefecture called Theatron. When I first watched this video, I thought, "What a wonderful venue," and vaguely thought I would like to go there someday. Then, a while later, during Spitz's 30th anniversary, it was announced that a concert would be held at this Theatron for the first time in 21 years! I was so excited that I decided to go immediately, and being able to get a ticket and actually visit the place in the video is a memory I will never forget for the rest of my life. Needless to say, the "Koi no Uta" I heard at that time was exceptional.
By the way, Spitz's songs suit my vocal range, so I often sing them at karaoke. However, the lyrics are a bit mysterious, so they aren't for everyone. But for fans, that's what makes them irresistible.
2. "Yuuhi to Hoshizora to Boku" / Porno Graffitti
As a fan, I believe the essence of Porno's music lies in their B-sides, and this song is one of them. This is the B-side to "Ai ga Yobu Hou e".
Just as the theme suggests, the melody and lyrics express the time of day when the evening transitions into night, and the poignancy of a love coming to an end.
Songs that exude this kind of poignancy are perfect for Akihito-san's voice.
My heart aches not only when I'm listening to this song, but also when I'm singing it.
Porno Graffitti celebrated their 25th anniversary this month. I'd like to take this opportunity to say congratulations once again!
3. "Kuchibue" / Mr.Children
This song also has a melody that I personally find perfect for the evening.
It is also a popular song among fans, having even reached number one in a fan club poll a few years ago.
When it's played live, the audience often sings along, and it's a melody that makes you want to sing, and it feels great to sing in unison with so many people.
I believe that up until the concert in this video, singing out loud was prohibited due to COVID-19 measures. Even if you can't use your voice, I think the real thrill of a live concert is the feeling that everyone's hearts are united through the music.
4. "Akaki Sora yo!" / Elephant Kashimashi
Since there are many songs with the word "moon" in the lyrics, Elephant Kashimashi has a strong image of the night, but I think they are also perfect for the evening. Miyamoto-san's voice soaks into the melancholic time of day...
Especially in this "Akaki Sora yo!", as the lyrics say
It's not that I'm sad, but for some reason, tears fall at this twilight hour
I love how it depicts that feeling of wanting to cry for no reason.
Furthermore, the fact that it accepts those tears and then pushes you forward by saying, "After you've had a good cry, let's walk toward tomorrow!" is an even bigger selling point.
It's a song you'll want to sing when you want to cheer someone else up, or yourself.
5. "Boku no Koto" / Mrs. GREEN APPLE
Lastly, this is a song I prefer to listen to as the evening progresses into night. Is it just me, or do you also feel like listening to grand, epic songs at night, depending on your mood?
Mrs. GREEN APPLE's "Boku no Koto" satisfies that feeling perfectly.
As the lyrics say,
Ah, what a wonderful day
Today, when I feel happy, and today, when my dreams are broken and I'm crushed
Whether it's a good day or a difficult, painful one, singing "Ah, what a wonderful day" makes me feel like any day can be saved.
The vocal range for this song is difficult, and I can't sing it well, but in my heart, I'm always singing it as if I were Mr. Omori. Haha.
***
That concludes my introduction of five songs perfect for the evening at this time of year.
Even though I say I love music, I haven't written any articles about it lately.
By agonizing over which songs to choose this time, I was able to reaffirm my passionate feelings for music.
Thank you for letting me participate in this wonderful project!
Now, I would like to pass the baton to the next person.
The next person is Shima-san.
I am always healed by Shima-san's writing, where she shares things she loves, such as rabbits, concert reports, and travel journals.
I heard you recently started something new. I am rooting for you with all my heart!!
Your tiny hat accessories are so cute every time I see them.
I look forward to your post.
Thank you for reading until the end.
