A Strange Dentist
The dentist I used to go to until a few years ago
was a bit of a strange dentist.
Back when my eldest son was still small, I was in my 'trying-my-best mom' phase where I felt I had to hurry back home whenever I asked someone to babysit, so I just went there simply because it wasn't too far from home.
That strange dentist
If you ask what was so strange about it,
they had a style of relaying patient information in an incredibly loud voice.
'Ms. ayamo~'
When I was called by name and entered the examination room, there were no private rooms or partitions, just about three chairs lined up in the same space with some distance between them.
Assuming there is already a patient in the chair near the front, I would be guided to the chair in the back.
If I was in the back, I'd be guided to the front, and sometimes there would be someone in the middle and it would be full. (What am I even talking about?)
I would sit in the chair and answer the dental hygienist's questions.
Then,
the dental hygienist would turn to the dentist who was treating another patient and say,
'Ms. ayamo is here for [condition], [condition], and [condition]! Her back right tooth is [condition] and [condition] is [condition]!'
She would relay my dental information in an incredibly loud voice.
The dentist over there would also
reply and give instructions in an incredibly loud voice.
The dental hygienist would, like a soldier,
'YES!' 'YESSS!'
and reply in an equally loud voice.
#WhatIsThis
Of course, even when the dentist was treating me,
information about other patients' teeth would be relayed by the dental hygienist in an incredibly loud voice.
There were a lot of technical terms so I didn't really understand what they were saying, but I could clearly understand when they were talking about the old man next to me's dentures, and thinking about it now, wasn't this a very strange dentist?
What's strange is
that while I was going there, I felt it was perfectly normal.
At first, I was taken aback and almost laughed, thinking, "What is this?" but by the third visit, I found myself completely used to it.
Even though my dental information was being blurted out loudly to everyone in the room, I was just like, "Yes, that's right, yes, please take care of me again today."
However.
No sooner had I thought I was used to the strange handovers at this strange dentist, than I began to feel uncomfortable that the warnings and criticisms directed at the dental hygienist were being delivered at the same volume with the patient right in between.
At the same time, I started to become bothered by these strange handovers again.
Furthermore, I started to think even the parking lot was somehow strange.
Eventually, I even came to think that the patients coming here were also somehow strange.
Then one day, the final straw was when I was told, without any convincing explanation, that "there is a tooth that should be pulled," and they started setting up an extraction, so I changed dentists.
I suddenly remembered all this the other day when I had my wisdom tooth extracted at the handsome dentist I go to now.
Yes.
The director of the new, hospitality-filled dentist I go to now is
as it happens, quite handsome.
The facilities are new, and the staff is well-trained. It's semi-private, so my privacy is well-protected, the parking lot is large, and nothing is strange at all.
By the way, this handsome doctor
above all, has a great voice.
When it comes to treatment, they put a towel over your eyes, so with your vision taken away, your hearing becomes super sharp, which makes my heart race even more. (What am I going there for?)
Besides, I can't see him just for a regular checkup. I can't see him unless I have a cavity, gum disease, pyorrhea, or a silver filling that's rotting. I was able to see him because I had a wisdom tooth pulled, though.
🦷What kind of toothless story is this?🦷
Today's song is,
CHAI / Boys Seco Men
Wait, what? I had absolutely no idea they disbanded a year ago! I quite liked these girls; they reminded me of Mean Machine. They had such a pop look and vocals, but the sound was incredibly heavy. The bass and drums were really cool, weren't they? I can't believe they disbanded!
