The secret to wanting to eat "wild plants." A recommendation for easy food education & family time without the need for removing harshness [For beginners]
What do you think when you hear "eating wild plants"?
I used to think, "No way, I'm not that desperate for food."
However, I found a way to
actually make you want to eat wild plants
.
Are you curious?
You can enjoy
nutritious,
safe ingredients
quickly and easily for free.
In fact, the children were even more delighted,
saying things like, "Let's go pick some more."
It turned into a
"Wild plant party that was a huge hit with the family!"
And what's more,
Gathering and eating
the blessings of nature yourself.
In other words...
Children can experience
"eating" and "living"
firsthand.

I realized that this
is what true "food education" is.
That is what I want to share with you today.
Wild plants are completely natural.
They have not been touched by human hands at all.
You can hardly find things like that
in supermarkets these days.
And yet,
you can find them in your own neighborhood.
Moreover, right now
is the best time, as many "beginner-friendly" wild plants are appearing.
The best time = the season,
and "seasonality" is also valued in medicinal cooking.
I believe that "wild plants"
are the best way to experience "seasonality,"
which is the foundation of a healthy diet.
"Wild plants"
I really think so.
Because it is entirely the power of nature.
If you trace their origins,
"Wild plants" and "vegetables" are in the same family.
Among wild plants,
the ones that are relatively easy to handle
were selected like "First Round Draft Pick Mr. Daikon,"
and they began to be
cultivated by human hands
as "vegetables."
Vegetables have been and still are
indispensable to our dining tables,
aren't they?

On the other hand,
the wild plants that "weren't chosen."
Their characteristics are
"bitterness" and "astringency."
This means many of them have strong lye.
If you eat them without removing the lye,
you'll end up with a "mouthful of Singapore."

I'm lazy, so
"It's too much trouble to go out of my way to remove the lye just to eat them,"
and until now, I haven't been very interested in wild plants.
To me, such a person,
a "divine revelation" descended...
If you make them into tempura, you don't need to remove the lye
That phrase.
When I heard those words,
they connected with keywords I'm currently interested in, such as food crises, food self-sufficiency, traditional food, Japanese identity, and medicinal herbs,
and as a result,
"Maybe I'll give it a try..."
And so,
The 1st Wild Plant Tempura Party
a.k.a.: Yaso-Pa
was held.
This,
was a greater success than I had expected.
We're even excited as a family
wondering when to hold the next one.
Yes, the quick secret
to actually wanting to eat wild plants is
tempura
It was.

Why I recommend wild plant tempura
1. No lye removal needed! Easy and hassle-free just by frying
Above all,
just pick them and fry them.
That's why it's easy.
There is absolutely no need for the extra steps of
cutting, boiling, or soaking in water.
Preparation is just washing.
How simple is that.

2. A chance to use that portable stove you rarely use
As a preparation for emergencies, my family
bought a portable stove last year.
However, it hasn't had a turn until now...
It's supposed to be for emergencies, but
it would be no good if I couldn't use it in an emergency.
So, I decided to bring it out this time, but...

This,
performed even better than I expected.
The reason is...
3. Kids love a live kitchen
Right in front of them,
the ingredients they picked
are being cooked right now.
This is truly a "live kitchen."
And,
a portable stove makes that easy to achieve.
Bring it to the dining table and
it instantly transforms into a live kitchen venue.
Since you can enjoy it freshly fried,
almost anything you fry will taste delicious.
A portable stove and tempura
is an amazing combination.
Of course...
4. You can do it outside, so you can enjoy an outdoor atmosphere
The amazing thing about a portable stove is that
you can use it anywhere.
This time I tried it inside the house, but
if you take this outside,
you can easily do "outdoor cooking."

It's fine to do it alongside camping or a BBQ, but
if you step outside
and do "garden tempura,"
you can instantly enjoy an outdoor atmosphere.
This is very easy.
Even indoor-loving families with no outdoor experience
can manage this.
Furthermore...
5. You can ask your husband to cook (lol)
"Men should not enter the kitchen"
My husband almost never cooks.
However,
once it's on the table, that's not the case.
(The same applies to the garden)
It exerts a "silent pressure."
Then, naturally,
you can leave the "frying duty" to your husband.
For insensitive men who
don't notice unless you say something,
"Ouch! The oil is hot and splashing. Honey, could you do it?"
If you tickle his ego a little bit like that,
I'm sure even the men who usually don't move
will gladly help out,
thinking "this is my time to shine!" lol
So that the women who work hard preparing meals every day
can have a little bit of an easier time
It makes the family happy, and
family bonds deepen through the fun.
The true greatness of a wild plant party is right here...
It's a go!
There is no better
strategy for world peace than this, is there? (lol)
What are the wild plants in season now that are good for beginners?
Even so, you might say,
wild plants have a high barrier to entry...
For those of you like that, I recommend
Mugwort

Why mugwort, you ask...
1. Mugwort is easy to identify
It's easy to tell by looking at the shape of the leaves.
And,
it actually grows with a surprisingly high probability.
The fact that it's easy to find also makes it suitable for beginners.
If it's mugwort, even I can do it.
2. The benefits are amazing
Mugwort is also a medicinal herb.
Its benefits are incredible.

It's a blessing to be able to get medicinal herbs in the neighborhood
without having to go out of your way to buy mugwort powder.
3. Now is the delicious time
Mugwort sprouts in spring and grows rapidly.
Since mugwort gets tough in the summer,
now is the time to pick it.
It's the
perfect time to pick!
You can now
easily
harvest
the soft leaves
of the new sprouts.
And above all... it's delicious.
The reason I recommend wild plant tempura
comes down to this.
It's delicious.

I wouldn't go out of my way
to recommend something that doesn't taste good.
I am sharing this because I think it's good.
Once you experience it for yourself,
I'm sure you'll understand
the feeling of "wanting to eat it on purpose."
Golden Week has just begun, so
for those of you who don't have any plans,
I highly recommend
a wild plant tempura party,
also known as a "Yaso-pa."
I would like to recommend it.
Let's enjoy food
deliciously and healthily!

Why not try
taking a look at the grass on the roadside as well?
