January 20th marked the beginning of the "Daikan" (Major Cold) in the 24 solar terms.

As if to match that,
it seems the strongest cold wave of this winter is coming.

Warnings have been issued from various areas, including Niigata City,
that there is a possibility of warning-level heavy snowfall.

According to TBS NEWS DIG,
"Up to over 2 meters of snowfall is expected in the mountainous areas of Niigata over three days."

Tension is running high among the people of Niigata Prefecture.

At times like this,
don't you want to spend your time with a calm mind?

So today,
I thought I would have you look at illustrations by my first-grade daughter, the artist,
to warm your heart.

First-grade daughter's work 1: "Heart ①"

Heart ①, which combines both "happy" and "sad."
The four sticks at the bottom are apparently legs.

It is a work that seems to imply
that both light and shadow reside within human beings.

There is no absolute good, and there is no absolute evil.

I think I am overthinking it by imagining such things.

First-grade daughter's work 2: "Heart ②"

Next is an ambitious work themed around "angry" and "frustrated."

She has clearly drawn the different expressions of the eyes and mouths.

I mean, "angry"...
(Personally, this hit the spot for me.)

Am I the only one who is soothed
by this indescribable expression?

"Angry" became popular in our house for a while.

First-grade daughter's work 3: 'Heart ③'

The third heart was so dynamic that I
took the photo from a distance.

The last heart is 'heartwarming' and 'worried'

Even so, I wonder why they are
having an out-of-body experience above the heart.

A first grader's sensibility is infinite

This time, I have presented the latest illustration
by my first-grade daughter, the artist.

(Even though nobody asked for it)

When I look at children's illustrations,
I feel like my heart gets a little warmer.

Whether they are my own children or not,
I can't help but feel that children
have the power to make adults smile.

Now, thank you for your hard work every day with your job, housework, and childcare.

When you are in a society that demands too much efficiency,
you lose your daily peace of mind, don't you?

At times like that, it's important to enjoy a little heartwarming moment.

I guess you could call it nourishment for the heart.

I believe that there is surely something important
in things that might seem like a waste of time.

Maybe I'll give my daughter a big hug tonight.
