Summer Vacation Memories: Would you like to feel warmed by a first-grade daughter's picture diary?
The long, long summer vacation is finally in its final stretch.
Speaking of summer vacation, there's homework.
The steady, relaxed type
The intense, last-minute catch-up type
Which one were you when you were a child?

I was relatively the steady type, so
hearing that my sixth-grade son hasn't finished his homework
has me inwardly worried sick.
On the other hand, for my first-grade daughter,
this is her first summer vacation homework.
Yesterday, her final assignment was safely completed.
The final assignment wasthe classic 'picture diary'
but
the modern generation is different after all.
Besides the old-fashioned handwritten picture diary,
there is also a digital version,
and that one is submitted via iPad.
You take photos with the iPad and input text using touch input.

I think there are definitely good aspects to it, of course.
But for those of us from the Showa generation,
the digital world feels somehow 'lacking in character'.
Compared to handwriting, it hardly shows any personality, after all.
That is precisely why
don't you think the handwriting and illustrations from childhood
are precious?
Things that can only be written now.
There is a 'flavor' that can only be produced at that time, isn't there?

The clumsy handwriting and illustrations
are, on the contrary, almost endearing.
In this digital society,
opportunities to encounter that handwritten flavor
are definitely decreasing.
That is exactly why today,
I would like to share with you
the handwritten flavor of a modern elementary school student,
since I have the chance.
A first-grade daughter's picture diary: What are her summer vacation memories?
Now, I will present them right away.

Title: Playing in the River

During summer vacation, I went to the river with my family.
When I put on my life jacket and entered the river, I floated.
It was fun to be drifted along by the water.
When I first entered the water, it was cold, but
as I went in further, it gradually stopped feeling cold.
The river felt good.
This clumsiness is just indescribable, isn't it?
I would be happy if you could feel a little nostalgic
by looking at this picture diary.
What kind of things left an impression on you
during your elementary school summer vacations?
Since both of my parents worked,
I don't really have memories of going out much.
Maybe it happened, but I don't remember...
And is that why I've ended up as an indoor person now?
The story behind how such an indoor family
ended up going to play in a river for the first time in their lives...
there was the presence of XX behind it...
I would like to talk about this in another article.
Children's summer vacation.
I suppose the worrying and the enjoying only happen now.
To all mothers with elementary school children,
let's do our best for a little longer.
