Together with local kindergarten seniors! A bread-making experience full of smiles
In addition to adults, 30 local kindergarten seniors
participated in this course.

The theme this time was "Mochi Barley Bread Making".
But, isn't bread making a bit difficult for children
with all the mixing and kneading?
I thought, but there was no need to worry at all.
For this bread making, the dough for the bread
was already prepared, so the process itself
was very simple.

◆How to make Mochi Barley Bread◆
① Spread ketchup on the bread and top with your favorite ingredients
② Then just bake it in a toaster oven.
I see, so even small children
or anyone who is a bit clumsy
can fully enjoy it.

Children sneaking a taste of the cheese
and children counting one, two, three
while waiting for it to bake
were just too cute.

Then, along with the 'ding' sound from the toaster,
the children's joyful voices saying, 'Wow! It's done!'
And the aroma of toasted bread spreads throughout the venue.
It was pure bliss.

Of course, the mochi barley pizza bread was delicious too.
The crispy texture was exquisite!
The children's beaming smiles exploded with this deliciousness.
Everyone seemed very satisfied, saying 'It's delicious!'
It became a wonderful time where smiles spread throughout the venue.
Enjoying mochi barley bread with the family! The souvenir dough is a big hit
The bread dough this time was
a special dough containing flour and mochi barley from Akiha Ward.
The mochi barley isn't in powder form,
but rather boiled and kneaded into the dough, I hear.

One of its features is that it has a slight brownish tint even though it's not whole wheat.
It's packed with the charm of Akiha Ward
that you can't experience with regular bread.
Plus, it's easy to eat just by putting toppings on and baking it.
This was highly praised by participants as being perfect for a snack.
Please! We'd love for you to sell just the dough in the future!!
Many such requests were raised.
And then, you know what?
They had actually prepared the special bread dough used this time
as a souvenir for us.

A happy scream at such a surprise! Thank you so much!
I tried baking it with my daughter after getting home,
and it was a huge hit again.
'Mochi barley bread is delicious, isn't it!'
Hearing the children say that, I felt proud too.
(Even though I just put toppings on and baked it)
There are no plans to sell just the dough yet,
but if it ever goes on sale, I definitely want to eat it again.
The mochi barley project connecting the community, and its passionate vision

The background to the start of the Mochi Barley Project was
the challenges facing Akiha Ward.
Actually, our Akiha Ward.
has the worst average blood sugar levels among the 8 wards in Niigata City!
Apparently, that unfortunate data came out.

In response to that,
Mochi Barley was highlighted as an initiative to support local health.
Mochi Barley is a superfood expected to have the effect of
suppressing spikes in blood sugar levels.
I'll say it again. It's a superfood!
Not only is it delicious, but it's also good for your health,
so isn't that the best for those eating it?
Right? (Mysterious pressure)
Furthermore! The Mochi Barley Project will be even more exciting this year.
That's because
Cafe Georg in Kosudo
and Koppe-ch in Furutsu
have reportedly joined the project.
Woo-hoo!
Yay!

Development of new menu items using Mochi Barley is already underway.
In particular, Koppe-ch's Mochi Barley bread
is scheduled to appear soon.
I'm looking forward to it! Exciting!
Reconfirming the appeal of Mochi Barley! The possibilities are endless
The appeal of Mochi Barley is, above all,
its texture and nutritional value.
The popping texture is fun to eat,
and it is a versatile ingredient that can be adapted to any dish.
For example,
if you mix it into a salad, the nutritional balance will easily go uuuuup!

Add it to soup for a delightful popping texture!
It's delicious just mixed into rice and cooked,
and it also goes perfectly with Western-style dishes like risotto or pilaf.

You can use it when you want to
take your everyday meals up a notch.
There is also aMochi Barley Recipe Bookcurrently being distributed in Akiha Ward.
Eating it makes you healthy and also energizes the local community.
That is also the reason why I recommend mochi barley.
Looking back on the four-part course... with gratitude and anticipation
The four-part mochi barley course was
a series of new learnings and discoveries,
even though I already knew about mochi barley.
Beyond just experiencing the appeal of mochi barley,
more than anything,
the time spent learning, cooking, and enjoying it
together with the local community was truly special.
That is the beauty of hands-on experiences, isn't it!
I want to continue staying involved with mochi barley
while staying connected to the community,
and I want to share this appeal with those who don't know about mochi barley yet!
That is what I felt strongly in the final session.
Mochi barley bread, soup, risotto—it can be arranged into anything!
I hope you bring the popping texture and deliciousness
of mochi barley to your own dining table.
