◆ 'Fragments of the Last Will'
I was back at my parents' house for the Obon holiday, and while we were all watching TV together for the first time in a while,
we found this movie.
This film stars Kazunari Ninomiya.

It is based on the real-life story of Isao Yamamoto, a Japanese man who was detained in a Siberian labor camp (lager) after the war ended.
I didn't know much about the situation of people after the war, but this movie made me think once again about the impact of war.
After the war,
'Let's go back to Japan soon and see our families.'
I was deeply moved by Mr. Yamamoto, who spent years in Siberia encouraging his fellow prisoners while never giving up that hope.
I sobbed uncontrollably during the final scene.
I won't go into too much detail as it would be a spoiler, but
it's the part where the companions saved by Mr. Yamamoto meet his wife, each carrying their own thoughts and feelings.
The importance of building peace, the sorrow of war, the anger with nowhere to go, the hope for life, the love for family, and the feelings of comrades all came rushing over me at once.
Now, you will all go on to fight the rough waves of life, but the things that will win in the end are morality, sincerity, and a true heart. Do not rely on others, but be willing to help others. Give up meaningless vanity. Success in life and such things do not matter. What wins in the end is morality.
Mr. Yamamoto lived his life to the very end cherishing this morality, sincerity, and true heart, both for himself and for others.
I felt that this was expressed through his words and actions as his way of life in this work.
I want to be grateful for being alive now and live with a true heart.
