Evaluation and Value
I have been working for a long time, but
my job position is considered to be behind the scenes,
so it is particularly difficult to produce individual results.
I think my hard work is rarely evaluated.
The number of bosses who have directly told me,
'You did a great job here,' can be counted on one hand.
No matter how much I think I am doing,
it is those around me who measure my value.
I have not really known how much I am valued.
The other day, I was asked to work together at a different workplace because my boss is going independent.
These are words from a boss I have worked with for a long time.
It is the first offer I have ever received.
I was very happy.
It was a moment when I felt that the steady work I had been doing had paid off.
There were work-related requests for what they wanted me to do, but I was even happier that they said they wanted to work with me because they had seen how I work and how I interact with people.
Since my current workplace does not allow side jobs,
I decided to work with them once a month
in the form of helping out.
My life will change a little, but it is a change I value.
I want to commit to it properly.
I do not work just by seeking someone's evaluation every day, but
sometimes my daily steady efforts bear fruit like this.
I am overjoyed to think that my evaluation had been quietly accumulating in the workplace.
I have always been behind the scenes, but I felt like I had been able to build a foundation.
I do not want to live only for work from now on, but I do like this job.
I wonder what the next workplace will be like; I am looking forward to it.
There is nothing wasted in working hard.
It was a day that gave me the energy to keep doing my best.
