Where is the delicious spot in Niigata, "Miyauchi Settaya"?

Now, when you think of "delicious" spots in Niigata Prefecture, what comes to mind?
Strawberry farms famous for Echigo-hime?? The market in Teradomari?? Rice fields in Uonuma or Joetsu????
Niigata Prefecture has all kinds of delicious things, but today I am going to introduce thefermentation and brewing town, Miyauchi Settaya area!!
The Miyauchi Settaya area is located in Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture, and the nearest station is Miyauchi Station, which is one stop away from Nagaoka Station by train.

Did you know about it?? I didn't know about it myself until I became a university student, but after visiting it this summer, it was a truly wonderful place!!
I could go on forever about its charms, but I encountered so much delicious food that I will focus on that for this introduction!!

6SUBI / Rice Ball Bento

First, I would like to introduce the rice ball bento from 6SUBI, located inside the "Settaya 6th Street Fermentation Museum Komegura".
As you can see in the photo, this is a bento packed with rice balls and side dishes, and it is truly delicious!!

The rolled omelet in this photo was especially delicious. It had just the right amount of dashi flavor.
By the way, are you a fan of sweet rolled omelets or savory ones? I am definitely on the savory side.

WILLOW HOUSE / Red Bean Butter Sandwich

Next, I would like to introduce the red bean butter sandwich from "WILLOW HOUSE".

This shop is a bakery restaurant where you can enjoy food in a calm interior renovated from a residence that has remained since the Meiji era. It is a new shop that opened in 2024.
It was a wonderful shop with delicious bread made using homemade natural yeast!

What I had at this shop was the red bean butter sandwich in the photo, but... look at this! This packed red bean paste and butter!! You don't see red bean butter sandwiches this full at many other shops, do you...
As for the taste, you might think, "Even with this much red bean paste and butter??", but the sweetness was not overwhelming, and thanks to the synergistic effect with the deliciousness of the bread itself, I was able to enjoy it until the very end.

I want to go again!!

Eguchi Dango Settaya Branch

Finally, I would like to introduce the sweets, starting with the dango (dumplings), that you can enjoy at the "everyone in Nagaoka knows "Eguchi Dango Settaya Branch"!!

For those of you who thought, "Settaya branch?? If there are other shops, I don't need to go out of my way...", you are wrong. There are many delicious sweets at the Eguchi Dango Settaya branch that you can only taste there.

First, Eguchi Dango's signature product, Mitarashi Dango, is exceptionally delicious. Furthermore, at the Settaya branch, there are live demonstrations, and you can enjoy them along with the wonderful scenery of the Japanese garden, so the deliciousness is sure to be doubled!!

And, at the Eguchi Dango Settaya branch, they also sell sweets that you can only get there, such as dorayaki and manju, called "Kuramoto Kashi" (Brewery Sweets). As I introduced at the beginning, this Miyauchi Settaya area is a town of fermentation and brewing. The "Brewery Sweets" made using fermented foods produced in the brewing warehouses of the Miyauchi Settaya area are exquisite!!

There are many other delicious things in the Miyauchi-Settaya area, and it is a wonderful town packed with many other charms, so why not consider it as a destination for your outing this summer (of course, you can enjoy it in all four seasons!!)?
