Subungual Melanoma
[Looking Back]
Over the past few entries, I have written about the disease known as subungual melanoma and the reality of the surgery.
To be honest, there were moments that were painful to recall, but by putting it into this form, I feel like I have been able to accept my own 'hand' once again. Since it was excised from the base of the nail, the nail will not grow back. I didn't have a graft, so the part that is gone has been reborn into a stylish, sleek fingertip (lol).
To everyone who read this, and to everyone who gave me warm 'likes,' thank you so much.
[What Was Lost and What Remains]
I lost a part of my fingertip, and its shape has changed.
But strangely enough, my passion for making sweets and my impulse to create beautiful things have become much stronger and more vivid than before.
It is precisely because I have become less capable that I have come to see the essence of confectionery making.
It is not just about efficiency or numbers, but the weight of a 'single plate' that reaches someone's heart.
[Next Time: The Independence Arc Begins]
The story of my illness ends here for now.
From next time, I will share the thoughts and feelings I had when I launched 'Oyatsu-ya Nekonote' on February 22, 2022—Cat Day.
The reasons why I chose the style of a made-to-order business without a physical storefront, and how I overcame the rough waves that hit me right after becoming independent...
I will start the story of my 'comeback and challenge' as a pastry chef.
Even without one fingernail, I can still paint my dreams.
From here on out, I will be delivering even more creative and even more delicious (lol) stories.
I would be happy if you would continue to join me on this journey!
