Two things I checked before my child started riding a bicycle

We've started cycling ☺️
Before they start riding a bicycle in earnest,
did you properly check these two things?
Traffic rules?Insurance?
When my child rides a bicycle,
besides teaching them how to ride,
I'm going to write about the two things I did 👍

To make them aware of traffic signs

Their first bicycle
It's nerve-wracking to go straight onto public roads 🥹🥹

I think many people
start them off in large parks or traffic parks
where they can practice cycling.

Helmet, ready to go!!
Motivation, fully charged!!

Off to the traffic park!

And here, we ran into a problem right away.
Um, my child doesn't know the signs 😧
I have a vague idea of them too,
but I don't know if I'm right 😧

This is a sheet I made after that experience 🫣

When we tried playing with this,
after just one time,
the children's field of vision
started picking up on the signs 😉👍

Signs that were visible but ignored
became visible without even trying😊

They catch your eye subconsciously.
This phenomenon happens to adults too, doesn't it? 😊

That was exactly it 😳😳

The sheet had other effects as well

For example, while we were heading to the supermarket by car,

👦 "Mom! There's a STOP sign, so
please stop properly!"

Pointing a little further away,
👦 "There's a crosswalk over there"

Bicycle and pedestrian only signs
are everywhere,
so with things like

👦 "It says bicycles can go here too!"
they find signs
in places other than the traffic park,
so our drives are filled with talk about signs 😊

Also, since their eyes are drawn to marks other than traffic signs,
they've become interested in the marks themselves ☺️
When that happens, I highly recommend this book 👍


It's a wonderful book that expands conversation ✨

In fact, my eldest son,
besides traffic signs,
looks at recycling marks and is a waste sorting master 😆
"Found some plastic waste!!" and he's very active.

My second son is a master at finding emergency exits!
He says, "It's an earthquake mark" 🤭
but he seems to understand that evacuation = earthquake.
My third son

is good at observing peoplesowhenever he spots a maternity mark or
a help mark,
he says,
"Mom, if someone is in trouble, we have to help them"
☺️

Children are truly amazing 😊

They can turn anything into a learning opportunity ✨

Lately, I've been looking around for marks even more than the kids😂😂
